Just that really, can't afford Dubarry currently so wondering if Ryedale could do for the time being?

Mediocre in my opinion, looks OK from a distance but the finishing is of a pretty poor standard to be totally honest.

What is it that you're looking for?

Coat and boots.

I’ve a rydale coat, used it for riding and now for tending the sheep. It washes well, remained waterproof not faded still looks good when it’s clean fabric hasn’t torn.
Sweatshirts withstand more wear than joules but one did fade. Shirts are good too. It depends on what you want. I want not too expensive (if it got trashed on its first wear I wouldn’t be devastated just a bit miffed) but decent quality for life on the farm.
I haven’t heard good things about the boots and trying the wellies on was enough.

I’ve got Ariat boots that have been hammered for 6 years and are still good?

Michaelbaubles · 06/11/2020 17:41

They’re workaday clothes - sold alongside Regatta here usually and of a similar (maybe slightly lower) quality but definitely the sort of thing people who need a bunch of outdoor wear would buy to wear out and sling through the wash without having to be precious about stuff that cost £££.

Coats are ok. For boots I'd get Ariats.. more expensive but so comfy and durable!

I've a Hoggs of Fife field jacket that has worn brilliantly if that's the style you're looking for. Wore it as a winter jacket for a few years and 8 years later it's still perfectly good, but is more for the farm now.

Not sure about the boots to be honest. I do rate ariats and definitely don't go for Dublin ones. My dubarry collection has grown over the years and they are 100% worth the extra money if you can stretch, I think one of my pairs are about 13 years old now and still going strong!
