Does a stylish, functional and reasonably priced raincoat exists?

Stylish - good enough to wear as a coat on any other day than a rainy day.

Functional - actually does its job and keep you dry. Hooded would be good too.

Reasonably-priced - less than 100quid.

Anyone found anything? If so, please do share!

The only one I found is from Boden but I'm not keen on mail-order.

Thanks!

I got a lovely one from M and M sports - can't do link I'm crap. It was a Helly Hansen one, about £50 (massively reduced), black, furry detachable collar, goes over your bum! Really pleased with it.

I have just bought the Boden 'New Rainy Day Jacket' and its great. Its fleece lined so really warm and has a hood. I bought it for the nursery run after one wet morning too many. It doens't feel like you're wearing a raincoat IYSWIM !

Sorry I know you said you don't like mail order. If it helps - these come up quite big. I'm a 10-12 (At the mo more like a 12) and I have the 10 and its plenty big enough.

greenday · 16/10/2007 10:28

Wheelybug, actually, I was very nearly going to order the rainy day jacket from Boden. the only reason why I'm reluctant is that I'm not sure of Boden's sizing even thought they provide a sizing table and it's a long wait (thank you to those who have provided other suggestions which I will definitely have a look at!) But I wasn't sure what size I should buy. I'm usually a size 12 but jsut given birth 6 weeks ago and have ballooned to a 16 (but according to Boden's sizing guide, I'm an 18). Do you think a 14 would be ok? I intend to lose my baby-fat so I don't really want to end up with an oversized jacket too.

Thought I liked the coffee-pattern but am having 2nd thoughts now as I spotted two other women in them in my area.

What pattern have you got?

I've got the turquoise one - the unpopular one . I would think a 14 would be fine.

Sheherazadethegoat · 16/10/2007 10:51

greenday - boden sizes are roomy. go for the 14, if you get teh free returns policy you can return it anyway.

majorstress · 16/10/2007 10:52

more, o stylish ones, please. I have been wearing a navy Sprayway anorak for 7 years-HELP. Can you save me from myself?

greenday · 16/10/2007 11:34

Oh, the spotty blue one was what I thought I'd get. I'm keen on the white one too.

I quite liked the Boden one but was put off by the fact that every second person has got one! When it isn't raining they are all wearing the washed velvet one!!
It is Bodenville here
