Suggestions please for working from home clothes

I’m feeling a bit down - been working from home since March & the novelty is wearing off a bit although I appreciate I am lucky to have a job! I miss adult conversation & seeing something other than these 4 walls. I’ve put in weight and let myself go🙁 I feel like a slob.

I want to buy a few new clothes to feel comfortable but look nice in throughout the winter. I like leggings but I don’t know what to wear with them? I have a pair of skinnyish jeans from mint velvet that I love but again no nice tops.

Seriously thinking of nipping to Primark before lockdown but then think do I want tons of cheap stuff or should I just get a few better quality ‘capsule’ things?

I have lost my way style wise. I am 45, 5’3”, size 12, bigger tummy than I would like! Please help!

First, don't worry about your age or height. Size 12 is fairly meaningless as it depends on your build. If your tummy is a bit bigger than you'd like, you could exercise a bit more and eat less, I suppose.

I'd get some tunics (much disliked on here but they are great with leggings for covering your rear), or some nice tops and jumpers.

You could wear a mannish shirt or a dress with leggings too.

I'm not very stylish

Thank you @MikeUniformMike yes I need to work on my diet and exercise although these days I feel like I’m doing well if I just get through the day having fed the family!
Those sound like good ideas. I just don’t know where to shop though. I feel like shops are either too young, too old for me or too expensive! Money is tighter due to DH being furloughed.
I have some money on vouchers for New Look, Sweaty Betty & Oliver Bonas (all very different I know!) but I have no idea what to buy!

as a longtime homeworker i think you should look at lifestyle changes rather than clothes. I know its not easy at the moment but i found that a change of scene was what i needed along with the exercise. can you look at what options there are for getting out and maybe taking up something new .....eg jogging, yoga in your garden with utube if you havent done before etc. Painting, gardening....whatever might suit u.

@
@dreamingofsun I think that’s a really good point. I’ve been getting really irritable with the family and I’m sure it’s because I’m cooped up in here most of the time. I’m either working, dealing with DC’s after school or the puppy! DH has been at home loads more due to furlough and much as I love him it’s a bit intense as not used to spending so much time together!
I do need to look at doing something for me as I have let myself go and am feeling myself getting a bit low. Thank you for the suggestions.

I understand how just getting through the day is enough Sad.

I'd look at sites like ebay for things that are a bit more high end than Pri**rk. New Look has some real finds.

Maybe look at brands like Cos, Arket, Toast, Kin (JL), Reiss, Hobbs and similar? They aren't cheap, but more affordable 2nd hand, and often they are hardly worn.

Uniqlo is great, @Littlemiss74, and not £££.

Make sure you get out for a walk in daylight hours!
My work from home wardrobe has mainly come from sweaty Betty. Not cheap, or stylish, but comfortable and practical. I can go from my desk straight to a walk, quick bit of lunch yoga or bit of cardio workout. I change later on for jeans and a sweatshirt or jumper, just like I'd change out out work clothes when going to the office. It marks the end of work and begining of "home" time, an important distinction when they are one and the same place! Other things, now it's colder I'm lighting nice candles while WFH, makes me feel warmer and something I'd not be allowed in my normal office. Also some oxygenating plants near my work space (a spider plant! Not easy to kill and cheap).

jumnpjem - i too had a spiderplant and i also put up a bird feeder on the tree outside my window as it was nice watching the birds when i was on endless teleconferences. also second the suggestion of walking in daylight hours, even if its just round the block. these are all tiny things but can make a surprising difference
