You may wear one pair of shoes...

What are they?
Indoor slippers and wellies are allowed as additional items.

The back story, I have plantar fasciitis and tendinitis which means custom insoles. For the past year I have worn white Converse with said insoles, but they don’t really go well with my winter clothes. I can afford another pair of the insoles and was thinking of asking if they can be put into my Chelsea boots.
If you had only one pair of shoes to wear this winter, what would they be?

Blundstones for sure. Go with everything, insanely comfortable and seem to be bomb proof.

lazylinguist · 04/11/2020 16:16

Anyway, try some foot yoga, that might help.

Adriene's runners' yoga stretch sorted my PF after everything else had failed. I didn't know she had a specific foot yoga workout though!

movingonup20 · 04/11/2020 16:23

I live in knee high boots

willowywillow · 04/11/2020 17:26

I've a pair of flat leather Clarks brogues with a rubber sole which go with just about everything, so they would be a good choice. I actually remember wearing brogues pretty much all the time when I was in 6th form in the late 80s. Very versatile shoe.

I have yet to find a situation for which Adriene does not have a workout for. The Hangover one a particular favourite Grin.

Grin I'm wondering if she has an anti-procrastination workout .

I have a pair of Docs tasseled loafer shoes and they’re really comfortable and work with everything. They feel like slippers now.

Cwenthryth · 04/11/2020 21:31

North Face Hedgehog walking shoes, they’ve been pretty much the only thing I’ve worn on my feet for about a decade, come in various colours. I have a clinical job on my feet all day long. They are lifesavers.

MaverickDanger · 04/11/2020 21:31

Timberland biker boots.

I only really wear them or trainers most of the year anyway.

OpEd · 04/11/2020 21:34

Deck shoes.

AnyFucker · 04/11/2020 21:37

these

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 04/11/2020 23:20

Either Stan Smiths, or DM Church monkey boots. I have lovely Chelsea boots which I haven’t worn since lockdown and WFH.

CardiCorgi · 05/11/2020 12:55

Adrienne foot yoga here I come...

I have a couple of colleagues who always wear heels and I really don’t know how they do it.

I didn't even do the foot yoga (didn't know it existed), just the post-run yoga stretch, and it achieved what other exercises, taping, anti-inflammatories, special insoles, Fitflops, compression socks and a night foot brace all failed to do!

thetrees · 06/11/2020 07:46

I would go for Chelsea boots but lei agree that yoga is great for plantar fasciitis. I spent a fortune on physio before realising that downward dog did the same thing at £9 per lesson as opposed to ££ on physio

lazylinguist · 06/11/2020 12:29

Or free on YouTube!

Jaxhog · 06/11/2020 12:31

Easy! I have it too. My shoes of choice are Tods loafers. Expensive, but oh so comfy. They last a long time too.

Ellapaella · 06/11/2020 12:36

Just got these in the sale https://www.drmartens.com/uk/en_gb/p/24996001
I won't be wearing any other footwear this winter, they're perfect.

yaboo · 11/11/2020 00:58

reebok classics. leather. many different colours. best trainers ever for my knackered feet. probably not cool. and probably NSFW, but... great for me.

BusterGonad · 11/11/2020 02:21

I love a footwear thread. I'm angst at some of these suggestions! New Balance trainers sorted my PF out. But answering your question Op I think I'd choose a suede ankle boot with a mid heel. Generally they go with everything in my wardrobe, jeans, dresses and skirts.

BusterGonad · 11/11/2020 02:22

Or brogues.

CardiCorgi · 18/11/2020 09:05

Well to answer my own question, it appears I’ll be wearing a pair of black trainers for the time being (Swiss engineering, so surely they are good). The orthopaedic shoe man was very nice, said my stance has improved since last year and keep up with the yoga and stretching even if it’s boring. I can also swap the insoles around if I need variety in footwear, but I’m not to spend too much time in Converse.
I’m off to pick up my new running shoes today.

@BusterGonad I like the sound of your suede boots.

I wear custom orthotics in Doc Martin Rometty boots. They are real clodhoppers with a platform sole, but soooo comfortable and it feels as though I'm walking on air.
