I basically just need a practical (but not frumpy) waterproof, warm coat with a hood that preferably does cost over £100.

I ruined my coat by sticking it in the washing machine without checking the care label!

I have the sea salt one, I work outdoors and it's fab, warm but not bulky and would definitely recommend it. I've noticed that there's one on eBay at the moment but it's in the claret colour.

Waterproof and very warm. I've recently got it and it's seen lots of wind and rain and bar the internal cuffs stayed dry and no water seeped through.

I have the Judy parka from Fat Face. It’s longer on me than the pic - the model is leggy!

I was coming on to recommend Trespass too but frenchand beat me too it. I live in Spain but needed something fairly cheap to do me for a couple of weeks in the UK last winter and ended up wearing it loads here too. It got loads of compliments too. Quite a few options here.

They seemed true to size to me. Do look at the different styles, some of which are cut to sit 'neatly' wellies others are much looser, intended to also fit easily even if worn over for example a suit jacket or an oversized pullover.

I found them very responsive when I had a million questions. I ordered a range and had no issues returning all but my beloved city Walker. Lifts my heart every time I wear it. Hurrah for rain 😀

Well this thread was over quick! Not like the threads of old in search of the ‘perfect’ winter coat. This one was my favourite and I ended up buying the North Face Arctic Parka. It was expensive but it’s still going strong and being worn by my friend’s 16 year old daughter over 10 years later.
