M&S biker boots

I would like to buy some biker boots but I don’t know if I will like them/wear them, and if my husband will let me wear them. He’s not a big fan of big chunky footwear and will say it’s not my style. My style is usually fairly classic/chic but I can also be quite fashionable when I want. I am also very skinny (though quite tall) and I fear they might look “out of proportion”.
In case I end up not wearing them, I don’t want to spend too much. I’ve seen this pair from M&S, could you pls let me know what you think? I would be wearing them with skinny jeans, mom jeans, skirts and dresses. Basically everything! They look fairly classic to me so I feel I would not be taking a big risk.

Thank you Smile

@TheDaydreamBelievers, that’s very good to know about the grip of the chunky sole. I hope it’s the same with the ones I have ordered as I cannot afford sliding. That’s another key reason why I have been looking at this style of shoes (it was not just to look more fashionable).

@hellisotherpeopleandhorlicks I mean “risk free” as in not standing out too much, not provoking any strong reaction, avoiding a fashion “faux pas” etc
The ones I’ve just bought are fine and I agree not true biker boots style yet I am ready to bet that my DH will call them clodhoppers... (but I will still wear them if I like them Wink )

if my husband will let me wear them

Huh?

DameCelia · 29/10/2020 08:12

@RoseEmelie the boots look great and I hope you love them.
Do you have daughters? How would you feel if you heard them say I mean “risk free” as in not standing out too much, not provoking any strong reaction ?
It seems sad to want to live without standing out too much or provoking any strong reaction, as if you don't deserve to be seen.
You are fabulous and have every right to wear whatever you like. Enjoy your boots!

WokesFromHome · 29/10/2020 09:23

Tell your DH you won't wear the boots if he wears a bag over his head.

Your husband sounds horrible.

Kidneybingo · 29/10/2020 09:34

In all seriousness, why should women not be able to wear comfortable, practical, warm footwear without attracting comments?

BertiesLanding · 29/10/2020 09:34

@RoseEmelie - If I had one wish on this thread, it would be that you felt free within yourself to live your life how you want, without recourse to worrying about what others think of you - least of all those who are meant to love you unconditionally.

Freedom from caring about the judgements of others is a wonderful thing.

dontgobaconmyheart · 29/10/2020 11:38

Sorry OP but no, your husband isnt 'classic' and 'traditional' he is just a misogynist and abusive bully to boot if he has normalised snarky and disrespecting comments when younger anything that doesn't garner his precious approval. You shouldn't have to be weighing up what is risk-free, he should just not be creating an environment in which you feel this way, or that your children have to defend you. You don't need to justify anything you wear to him, he doesn't have the right to behave as he does. It's no life and I'm appalled. Can't even comment on the boots I'm so shocked that men like this exist and women are having to be subject to their behaviour.

Trying81 · 29/10/2020 12:06

I had an earlier version of those boots back in 2018, they were so comfortable - now considering a drive to get these too

And yes, ignore your husband - no one should be dictating what you wear

Snackasaurus · 29/10/2020 12:35

You wear what you want to wear! Smile

They're synthetic with a fluffy furry lining. Sounds to me they'll be very warm and un-breathable.
