Can anyone explain Olaplex to me WRT my hair

My hair is dyed (brown) every 3-4 months. I also use at home Keratin treatments 2 weeks before I dye it. It is getting a bit dry with winter and so I would like to give it a boost.

I am thinking of Olaplex, but don't want to go to a salon.

Anyone here use the products themselves at home? What stages would I/ should I do myself to improve the condition of my hair?

I am not sure if this is really advice but I got olaplex with my highlights at the hairdresser last time and then bought no6 (I think) to do once a week at home. Will see if it helps. My hair v dry.

What Home keratin do you use? I’ve been getting keratin for 10+ years and either my hair has gotten in really bad condition or the keratin is not as good as it used to be. I did a “home” keratin for first time last night. It seems to be ok, pretty much like the last couple of years of salon ones. But hey it was £35 instead of £120/50 so I would do again.

Olaplex is a protein type treatment (as is keratin) so be careful of overloading with protein. If you're going to use it go with number 3.

Try dizziak deep conditioner once or twice a week and ouai hair oil (cult beauty). My hair is dry and unruly, but the combination of the oil and deep conditioner works wonders.

Waterdrop, I use Cocochocco Gold.

Closet, you have inspired me to start a thread on oils. I looked at dizziak and it looks great. I couldn't see if it had any salt in the ingredients. I need a salt and sulphate free treatment to compliment my Keratin treatment.

I know it's supposed to be sulphate free wokes (as is the shampoo), but I would double check just to be sure.

I also recommend davines OI if you find the Dizziak to be unsuitable but if you are put off by strong scents it has quite a pungent baby powder type smell.

What I love about the Ouai oil is it has the light texture of a serum but the moisturising properties of a heavier oil.

What does WRT mean?

There’s a wide difference between the salon application of Olaplex and the at home versions. For me, the salon treatment gave my highlighted hair a wow factor, it felt healthy, thick and shiny. The home treatment just maintains my hair condition I suppose - it doesn’t necessarily feel/look better but it stops it from getting worse and breaking off etc.

They have released #0 which I haven’t tried yet but seems interesting.

I think in you just need a really good conditioning mask instead. I use kerastase.

With Olaplex #3, you use it before shampoo.

Wrt = with regard to.

You need the new no 0 which you use first and then use no 3 on top. I leave on overnight and it has totally transformed my hair. Nadine baggott has just done a video about the whole range.

Thanks for Nadine Baggott recommendation - really clarifies how Olaplex works and the function of the various "steps". I take from it that step 0 plus amy conditioner is a reasonable alternative to the salon treatment but a bit less intense.

Superstars are usual. Thx everyone. Smile
