I have been using it every other day as advised on the packaging ‘incase of reaction’. No reaction whatever, so I was going to ask if I should use it every day? However now I’m wondering if it’s just a bad buy in terms of strength 🤦🏻‍♀️

It’s called Yeouth Retinol Serum and hot rave reviews on amazon. I’ll link to it. It says 2.5% on the advert but I can’t see that on the box 🤔

Retinol is before phenoxyethanol in the ingredients list so it's more than 1% retinol. Doesn't say what type though so hard to say. I'd maybe go two days on, one day off and see how you go. Always wear SPF too when you have a retinol in your routine!

I can't say if the product is any good, but all those shining reviews are paid for/ freebies. The seller gives out codes so people can buy the product but not pay anything, so long as they leave a positive review. If in doubt look at the other reviews the buyers have given, everything they buy is apparently amazing!

Is that for definite do you know or that you suspect that’s what has happened?

How long have you been using it? It can take over a month to see a real change when using retinol products

SpaceOP · 27/10/2020 15:48

I've been in the market for a retinol product so have been researching. Annoyingly, I can't remember WHERE I read this, but I THINK it was Sali Hughes who said that the percentage of retinol is important but that also there's some other factor that means it might read as being quite high, but actually, it's not. I might go see if I can find the reference for you.

On her advice, I'm going to be trying The Ordinary 0.2% intro retinol then upgrading to a higher level one if that works.

I’ve applied it three times so a week. I just expected my skin to react and it’ll literally like I’m putting almond oil on my face or something.

Also, I watched some youtube woman that someone recommended as part of my research process (sorry, can't even begin to remember who she was) and she was saying that she has the skin of a rhino and frankly has never had so much as a single minor reaction to retinol but that nonetheless lots of her clients do so you have to be careful. So maybe you're just like her? She does bang on about how important it is and was attempting to show the difference in her skin where she'd used it vs hadn't used it but I was watching on my phone and frankly, couldn't see it well enough! That doesn’t sound good!! it’s been touted on here as a complete game changer.

If you’re not getting an adverse reaction keep going with it as it will take time to see a noticeable difference in skin texture and evenness. I would recommend using The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2% emulsion, it is a more stable version of retinol so can be used everyday. When introducing new actives into your skin care routine you can get “skin purging” which are like breakouts. As your skin is getting used to an increase in skin cell turnover you will shed more dead skin and bring up all that gunk deep in your pores. This can last up to a month.

Make sure you are using a good sunscreen and moisturiser with it to keep you hydrated. As whilst you may not get a reaction to it, it can make you more uv sensitive.

kumquotorphysalis · 01/11/2020 09:57

I’ve used obagi 0.5% and 1%, the ordinary 1%, granactive retinoid 5% and am now on no 7 1.5% and my skin has responded most to the no 7, more so than the ordinary 5%.

justanotherneighinparadise · 01/11/2020 10:03

Oh interesting. Thank you girls xx

It says 2.5% hyaloronic acid. not 2.5% retinol.

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/11/2020 10:58

I’d just go straight to dermatica or skin+me. Are you wearing sunblock every day?.

yesbutnobut · 01/11/2020 11:30

I wouldn't bother with retinol - get a prescription retin A from Dermatica (first month free). This will work though you'll need to build up and be careful to always wear SPF.
