Best shampoo for lanky greasy looking hair

Just that really. My hair is quite dark and I find it can look quite greasy and flat at the roots, especially when I’ve been wearing a hat. I currently wash every other day but on non wash day it doesn’t look the best and I really don’t want to start washing daily. So what recommendations does anyone have? I have heard about banana shampoo being good but not necessarily for my hair type although I’m willing to give it a go.

Dry shampoo on non wash day

Have you tried the Elvive Fibrology range?
My hair can be the same as yours and it really helps mine.

I've been using Ethique st Clements shampoo bar and it's been amazing for my hair. I've got fine hair which I used to have to wash every day but I can go 2 days or 3 with dry shampoo on 3rd day with this. It also leaves my hair lovely and soft.

It's a solid shampoo bar though, so may not be for everyone.

Agree with L’Oréal fibrology for body.
Vosene is hands down the best for greasiness .

Maybe look at sulphate free shampoos, sulphates can be too harsh making your scalp over produce oils, but it can take a few weeks to calm down after switching.

Ooh loads of ideas, thank you. I like L’Oréal Elvive but have never tried the fibrology so that’s definitely worth a go.
I also keep wondering about the shampoo bars but not daring to try so maybe I should take the plunge with that too.
I’ll give all the ideas a go and see what works best for me, thank you.

The Loreal Elvive fibrology does make mine look thicker, but the Loreal Elvive Clay one, makes mine much much less greasy at the roots, you only need a tiny bit though as it's very creamy.

I tried going SLS free, but it didn't work for me Sad

I would have thought banana shampoo would be better for dry hair? (Remembering the Bodyshop days from the 80's!)

£2.65 in Tesco with a clubcard or 2 for £5 in Asda.

I always wait until its reduced!

L'Oréal clay one for greasy roots

Shampoo bar and no conditioner.

I've had similar this year. I was washing my hair (with whatever was on offer tbh as my hair is very normal and straight) and it looked greasy even freshly dried.

I got the L'oreal clay one. It is creamy. It looks fine day 1 but day 2 it looks a bit greasy again, which is better than before I suppose.

Another I heard recommended but couldn't stretch to was the Aveda Rosemary Mint purifying shampoo.

Hi,

Head and shoulders anti dandruff worked miracles for me - highly recommend.

I change which shampoo I'm using every few washes and find that helps. So at the moment I'm using L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Clay alternated with Head and Shoulders and then once a week I use Tresemme Clarifying shampoo (Aldi also do a great dupe of this).

I've started using batiste's coloured dry shampoo (the brunette one) as it fluffs my hair up enough to make it look fuller without the white cast but doesn't make it look dry and weird. It has the added bonus of having the colour (assuming you have a colour that it blends with, obvs Wink).
