Luck or have primark ‘upped’ their game?

I buy from primark and always find that they don’t last long or don’t hang right-but they are cheap, so it’s fine.

Went shopping today, bought the most softest, comfiest plain top and bottoms pj lounge wear set to slob about in, come home, tried it on and OMG it’s cut beautifully, and instantly made me look like one of those glamorous insta people who always look great- almost cried I can’t wear it in public because I actually look rather decent in it.

Also bought two jumpers, again- look fab!! Just way beyond what I normally look like in primark jumpers!!

Was I just lucky to get gems or have they ‘got someone new in?’

(Did buy 2 pairs of jeans that are too small so going back though)

Really nice! Long may they last

orangenasturtium · 24/10/2020 13:27

Thanks for the photo! Flowers I don't suppose there is a pic of the jumper?

excelledyourself · 24/10/2020 13:53

They look lovely. I really like the blue colour. Did they have other colours?

JellyfishandShells · 24/10/2020 13:58

@Redcups64

Also washed them on a quick 20 degree wash and are still perfectly soft and in shape
My washing machine won’t go that low - the lowest is 30C ?
JellyfishandShells · 24/10/2020 14:13

I have two plain v neck cotton oversize jumpers that are about 5 years old - lovely cut and wash brilliantly. Also 3 simple stripey tops that are about 3 years old that I wear with yoga pants as my default house wear that also bounce back after a wash. Other times I look around there and it’s only nasty fabric with pointless decoration.

One thing I learnt early on was that sizing is inconsistent, even within the same model, size and colour. Though M & S are also guilty of that now, if my experience is anything to go by :/

JeVoudrais · 24/10/2020 14:16

I have the cream set and have washed it at 30 or 40 and it's come out fine. I also got a couple of lovely jumpers in there. One is a large so size 16 ish I think and I'm a size 10/12 on top. So comfy not remotely scratchy like some are.

Branleuse · 24/10/2020 14:21

I must admit I dont buy fancy clothes and usually a lot of basics, but ive never had a problem with primark quality.
Some of their pyjamas shrink in the tumble, and theres a lot of stuff in there ive felt and can tell it wouldnt wash and wear well before buying it, but for basics theyre alright. Their makeup is good too
Their womens underwear is crap though, cheap elastic that goes frayed really quickly

ImEatingVeryHealthilyOhYes · 24/10/2020 14:40

I’ve found pyjamas from lots of more expensive places can shrink in the wash too (and go cardboardy, looking at you Hush Sad)

ImEatingVeryHealthilyOhYes · 24/10/2020 14:40

Oops I mean the tumble drier

IAintentDead · 24/10/2020 15:39

I have a pair of pyjamas from there and 3 stretch terry dressing gowns that I bought in 1995. The PJs are past their best but still wearable and the dressing gowns are fine. They aren't used very often though these days, they live in the guest bedroom.

Ginkypig · 24/10/2020 18:47

@IAintentDead some of my really old primark clothes are really lovely quality! I’ve got some tops that are at least 10+ years old that are still like new but I’ve also had a lot of things since then that are ok for a couple of wears but really don’t do well for more than that.

@Redcups64 what is the material of those lounge sets? I like them although probably in a different colour for me.

BurningRose · 24/10/2020 18:54

I think OP works for Primark.

Ginkypig · 24/10/2020 20:24

@BurningRose

I think OP works for Primark.
Well I did think it was really odd that the pic wasn’t of the actual things that were bought and instead an advertisement but it doesn’t change my posts.
Redcups64 · 24/10/2020 22:07

I don’t work for primark, I’m self employed. I took the photo of insta as I didn’t want to take one with my house/carpet/bedsheets in the background.

The jumper I can’t seem to find a picture of but they were £10 and soft but I haven’t washed them yet but they look good on.

I can’t remember if there was other colours of the Pjs but I think so.

I got a dress from there too that looks great on me, but I did notice that where it’s a button down on the top half, from the side sometimes you can see in to my bra if your at the right angle- does anyone know how I could fix that as I don’t want to take it back because it really suits me.

I’m another fan of Primark towels.
Had to take ours to the laundrette the other day. The attendant doing the service wash apologised that it cost more than she’d quoted
She said it was because the towels took longer to dry than she expected as they were so thick and fluffy. She commented that they must have been expensive to buy!
When I said they were from Primark she was shocked and said she was off to buy some.

OrtamLeevz · 24/10/2020 22:40

Fan of their bedding here. We have one of their duvet covers on the bed at the moment. It's really good quality too.

Moonflower12 · 24/10/2020 22:52

@Redcups64
Put Velcro dots in between the buttons so it doesn't gape?

SwimmingOnEggshells · 24/10/2020 23:16

Primark don't need to use stealth posts on social media. They're massively successful as it is!

I'm a big fan of their PJs too. They have loads of bottoms with pockets which is very important for me!

Angelina1972 · 26/10/2020 03:59

I love their bedding and towels so much.

CherylStreep · 26/10/2020 08:29

Penneys have some great woollies in at the moment (got some before the 6 week closure) and I find their children's clothes really good quality. They often have very similar items of clothing as more expensive stores - same quality but a fraction of the price.

miffy2 · 26/10/2020 12:39

I bought that set in blue but had to return it. I bought a Medium and while the bottoms were generous the top was a bit snug. I would need to buy two pairs, a M and an L, to make one suitable set, although at €12 each it wouldn't break the bank I suppose! The quality felt really good.

Just seconding the love for primark towels, they are brilliant also the top of the range cotton fitted sheets are superb much better than M&S or JL. I have a few gems over the years, have a lovely floral raincoat in a sort of sateen cotton, has beautiful lining with taped seams in a contrasting colour & always get compliments when I wear it yy the pj’s, plain cotton T-shirts & vest tops.
Freetodowhatiwant · 26/10/2020 18:51

The towels are they any particular style or is it all their towels? I need towels so am (sadly) quite excited to hear theirs are good.

I think they do a few ranges, but the best ones are the premium range slightly more expensive but still extremely reasonable compared to some, honestly can not recommend them highly enough.

We got 6 bath sheets from primark 12 years ago when we first bought our house and they are still going strong!
