Im 42, 5ft 4, 10 stone, size 12/14 have lived and died in jeans for sooo many years, need a change. Have children, do the school run have little social life apart from the odd trip to the pub. Don't want to be fashionable just stylish if that's possible.

I really like the longish boots over jeans look at the moment - I think it lifts a pair of jeans and makes them more interesting.
How abot a trip to Topshop for some practical but up to date stuff (avoiding anything too teenagery!) There is some really nice stuff in there. Zara too.

how about introducing some trousers to your wardrobe? dark colours, maybe the bootcut type? can still be as casual as jeans with a sloppy jumper,or can be dressed up a bit for a casual evening in the pub. also, i think long denim/cordroy skirts look nice with boots

I think boots with a heel over jeans as Boo suggests plus a tunic or a longish jumper would work well. Have a look on the Principles website maybe

There is always cords in winter jewel colours worn with chunky heeled shoes/boots and wear with a fitted top I.E polo neck and some beads or pendant necklace. Zara do a whole host of colours on standard cords, they are long though but if you wore them with platform round-toed boots (Clarkes are advertising come nice ones on TV right now) then they would give you a very long legged look, but still be comfortable and sexy.
