Wedding next weekend - help!

Help!
I have a wedding to go to next weekend and nothing planned for my outfit!

I've lots of lovely new stuff but it's all casual apart from one satin red top and gorgeous high black mary jane shoes BUT black and red seems a bad choice for a wedding and I don't have a skirt to go with the top anyway.

So.....any suggestions for something I can get to wear to an October wedding - we are mainly staying for the day as ds is coming so we will have to go home at 8ish as kids aren't allowed in the wedding and will be with a babysitter in another room or the grounds.

I want to stick with the black patent mary janes and have dodgy legs so need opaque tights so something to wear with this - a dress and shrug?

I have dark hair, pale skin, size 10 on top 10/12 on the bottom.

Any ideas would be fabulous!

Don't want to spend a fortune so something from Coast or Monsoon would be ideal and something that I can wear to xmas dos if I happen to go to any!

Ok I've just trawled my wardrobe and managed to put together the following (not easy given lack of smart clothes):

  • black wrap dress (polyesterish jersey so not great but would just look ok) -smart khaki tailored jacket from Reiss -black opaques
  • aforementioned high heeled mary janes in black patent

BUT does it all sound a bit drab for a wedding, albeit a late October one?

On the upside would save me dragging ds round shops trying to find something else and save moeny not buying something I may never wear again!

A friend once dolled up an oufit for a wedding by sewing some brightly coloured ribbon into a wide belt, and then adding the same around the rim of a hat. Maybe you could add ribbons or something to both parts of your outfit to give them a co-ordinated feel.

Just re-read your post. Get a khaki belt and clutch bag to drag all the elements together. A bit cheaper than a complete new outfit.

Hi
I posted almost exactly the same post as you did a couple of weeks ago, didn't get much help. You should have changed your name and added a cod in there and you would have got 100's of replies.

In the end I wore a fab suit from Wallis- it was grey a really lovely flat herribone and it hung so nicely. Great flat front trousers and a fitted waistcoat with a tight white 3/4 length sleeved top fab red jewellery (big bangle etc) A red cashmere pasmina and some high mary janes.

It looked really nice and I'm so glad I wore that and nothing too fussy as I had the kids to run around after although I do wish I had perhaps bought a funky hat.

Hmmm......go very 40's? Get a cheap, plain black pencil skirt and a red 'fascinator' (feathery headdress) from Monsoon. Wear with bright red lipstick, your aforementioned top, black tights and shoes.

Red lipstick totally returned for this season and I think the 40's look is how you carry off red and black - think you will look very stylish. Do hair in 40's waves too and you will look very pulled together.

£15 for skirt, tenner for fascinator .....et voila

Some great ideas everyone - but yes agree if I were Cod I'd have got zillions of replies. Quality not quantity here though!

OMGhelp - like the clutch bag idea - but would a khaki belt work over a wrap dress?

Maybe one of those enormous wide ones, that will empasize your tiny waist, it will also break up the top and bottom parts making them look like seperates. Or be really cheeky and get a webbing belt from the army surplus/ outdoor shop and maybe an army beret as well.
