Is Estée Lauder advanced night repair worth it?

Looking for a new serum.... and skin care range to be honest. Tried the Charlotte tilbury magic creams and serum and noticed no difference whatsoever.

Thinking about ANR.....

Concerns are first signs of ageing - fine lines around eyes and want a radiant complexion. I'm in my early 30s.

Totally worth it. A little goes a long way as well.

Iamthewombat · 20/10/2020 23:19

I don’t think so. It won’t make any difference to the lines around your eyes: no serum is going to smooth out wrinkles. It feels nice on but my experience is that it doesn’t do much.

TheSeedsOfADream · 21/10/2020 07:42

In my opinion, no.
It was the first of its kind, (a hyaluronic acid based serum with other moisturising factors mixed in) but it's been overtaken by actives and serums for specific concerns.
It's a decent first signs of ageing serum but for a product that's mainly hyaluronic acid, there are better and cheaper products around.
If you want "glow" you need a Vit C
For fine lines you need a retinol.
For moisture and hydration, any hyaluronic.

IMO no. I've bought it once and saw no difference.

One of the best I've got is Olay 3 point Regenerist range.

It's not fancy, but it's cheap on Amazon and it seems to work.

JinglingHellsBells · 21/10/2020 08:09

Fine lines- wear sunblock every single day, don't squint (use sunglasses at any hint of sun), don't smoke and don't sit in the sun.

Time to school yourself on the modern active ingredient skincare around, and develop a routine of multiple layered products based on your particular skin issues.

The days of a ‘miracle moisturiser’ from the highstreet shop are long gone.

Try some of the popular dermatologists on youtube. Then look at basic no frills products from The Ordinary. If you favour more of a luxe smell & texture experience, take that knowledge and look at products (same active ingredients) that make you happy and still fit your budget.

It’ll be confusing and a bit overwhelming at first, but you’ll get the hang of all the ingredients codes and chemistry soon enough. In the end, you’ll probably be fine with a double-cleanse regime, a chemical exfoliant, some Vit C, a couple of acids & serums. And a damn good sunscreen.

You’ll think I’m crazy now, but trust me. You could get all that stuff for the same price as one highstreet high end product. And actually see some effects.

If it were as easy as ‘which one cream?’ then there’d only be One Cream To Rule Them All. Grin

When I first started using it about 8 years ago, I was really happy with it. I sound a bit like an advert, but I'd wake up, look in the mirror and think my skin was looking really bright and smooth, but after a few weeks, like with most serums/creams, the effects seem to plateau.

I think it's all about switching and changing with serums. I do go back to ANR occasionally, but only use it for a few weeks, before going back to No7 P&P or The Ordinary Vit C.

Zinnia · 21/10/2020 12:21

For the last few years I've saved my Boots points to buy ANR (the price going up by about £5 every time Hmm). Now it's £82 for 50ml I've stopped wasting my (virtual) money and am using REN serum or La Roche-Posay retinol instead.

ANR feels lovely on, but I don't notice any difference in my skin between when I'm using it and not.

FWIW I've started using The Inkey List in my morning routine, similar to The Ordinary in concept and price and clear about what to use when and in which order, which is always the bit that defeats me. I love the idea of properly educating myself about modern skincare but just don't have the time and find the thought of it exhausting.

Iamthewombat · 21/10/2020 13:12

The Hada Labo super hydrator is £17 or something from Superdrug and wipes the floor with ANR in my opinion (and you get 150 ml).

Bloomburger · 21/10/2020 13:14

I use the EL one in the white bottle. Regenerist maybe?

It's far better than the brown one. That and a bit of Botox and you're good to go.

LaBellina · 21/10/2020 13:19

Hado Labo do products with basically the same ingredients for a much more reasonable price. Check Amazon.

And as others have said, vitamin C works better. And don't forget to use an SPF, in any case but certainly in combo with using any vitamin C product.

ReginaaPhalange · 21/10/2020 13:35

Thanks all. Ttc so don't want to get into the habit of using a retinol. I also wear a nars spf50 primer very day so covered there.
