Skincare dupe finder: this is going to save me a lot of money

Friend just sent me this site: skinskoolbeauty.com/ and it made me think of you lot.

I've always known skincare products were a lot of the same things in different packaging but CBA to stand around reading ingredient lists. If this is for real, I'm a happy woman...

Also just realised this post might make me look like I'm working for them and some kind of sneaky advertiser - I'm not, I promise!

Interesting. I'm wondering how they are matching. It could be worth using as a starting point and. Then comparing a few items on the cosdna site...

Interesting.
I often find if you are familiar with ingredients and check them there's not a lot of difference in some product even though there is in price
It's also interesting to see which brands are made in the same factories

It looks good but it's very USA based and not as relevant to the UK and Europe.

JinglingHellsBells · 21/10/2020 10:14

It looks a bit odd.

I typed in the name of a Clinique face cream and the dupes were E Lauder and B Brown- both more expensive!

I used to use Paula's Choice aka Beautypedia but became cynical as she dissed almost all products and promoted her own brand.

dazzlinghaze · 21/10/2020 10:22

Ooh interesting! I put in Clinique moisture surge and the top result was a lacura cream. That's Aldi isn't it?

It's not only for finding cheaper options, though - it's also for finding alternatives that avoid certain ingredients, or if something you like was discontinued.

@GrimDamnFanjo there's a bit about how they're matching on the FAQ and Methodology page, although they don't go into huge detail...

Had a wee look, best match out of 5 products was 62% match, not great. Would be good if you could browse products of say, 90% match and over....just saying Smile

I do like the high number of kbeauty brands as my routine Is almost entirely Korean/Japanese now.
I think I will use this to get a shortlist and then narrow down if I: looking foe a dupe.
