What goes with burnt orange?

I have treated myself to Hobbs Tilda coat in burnt orange. More than I would normally spend. Any ideas for scarves, gloves, boots to go with it?

A deep navy maybe, or a forest green for a bolder look

I have a burnt orange coat and my whole wardrobe is built around it. I have a ton of autumn colors, deep greens, oranges, mustard, burgundy, brown, brick etc. I figure anything that looks good in a forest in autumn will look good together. Also a lot of navy and a tiny bit of teal which is harder to pair with the coat but sometimes looks fantastic.

foxtiger · 18/10/2020 13:37

I love burnt orange and I tend to wear it with navy blue, bright blue (cobalt?), mustard, lighter orange, cream, burgundy and all shades of grey. It also looks really good with black but I'm trying not to wear black at the moment!

Sunglasses?

SpeckledyHen · 18/10/2020 14:37

Any autumn shades will go with it along with warm navy and teal .

forgetthehousework · 18/10/2020 14:39

Consider deep purple.

LaBellina · 18/10/2020 14:40

I would probably wear stone red with it, but I love bold colour combo's.

grassisjeweled · 18/10/2020 14:41

Steel Grey

Pearl White

Gorgeous coat. Am very envious now. Agree that navy would be lovely

MikeUniformMike · 18/10/2020 14:50

Miaow!

It's a very nice coat and not as bright as I imagined. I was lusting after a coat in Hobbs in the early spring but the shop staff scared me away.
I'd wear it with neutrals.

Secretlifeofme · 18/10/2020 14:54

My baby has a burnt orange vest which came as part of a multicoloured pack. I put her in it today with navy leggings and a cream cardigan and she looked lovely Smile

sunshinesupermum · 18/10/2020 15:00

Many years ago I had a Mary Quant dress the top was in burnt orange (like the Hobbs coat) and the skirt (what there was of it being a mini) was aubergine. I still lust after that combo!

MikeUniformMike · 18/10/2020 15:03

I was going to suggest cream, beige, olive green, chocolate, dark grey, black... but you could try a contrasting colour too, or go for something of an orangey hue.

jambeforecreamofcourse · 18/10/2020 15:21

Deep purple or teal. I LOVE burnt orange!

WonderMoon · 18/10/2020 15:36

Burgundy, dark teal, rusty brown..I have a burnt orange overcoat that I like to wear with abit of leopard print, the brown in the print works well with it.

Ninkanink · 18/10/2020 16:27

Burgundy, navy, olive green, berry, khaki, dark red, chocolate, forest green/moss green, a dark teal.

Lots of colours.

Very envious. I’ve got a burnt orange leather jacket and I love it.

Ninkanink · 18/10/2020 16:28

Oh yes, and definitely leopard print!

Paintedmaypole · 18/10/2020 17:53

Thanks for all the suggestions. It's a bit out of my comfort zone, i would normally go for Navy or Camel, but It's a toned down burnt orange so not bright enough to need the sunglasses MikeUniform Grin I'll try Navy or dark teal.

Red, that burnt type that goes with burnt orange.
Very popular in he 90's just coming in again.

Craftycorvid · 20/10/2020 12:32

Burnt orange is a surprisingly versatile colour - all sorts of colours will work, the trick is the tonal range - so teal is in the same range and will complement rather than clash even though they are very different colours, but turquoise would really stand out if you wanted a strong contrast. A muted purple would similarly tone in really well. About the only colour that might look a bit off would be pale pastels.

crochetmonkey74 · 20/10/2020 12:52

I love burgundy and forest green with burnt orange- looks gorgeous!

Zinnia · 20/10/2020 22:34

I have a coat in this colour (from Autograph a few years ago) - wear it with mustard, lilac, fuchsia, soft pink, caramel, burgundy, forest green as well as navy, grey and black. It's incredibly versatile for such a strong colour.

Brogues · 21/10/2020 07:36

I also have a coat in a similar colour and have been surprised at how much it does go with. Try a small shot of cobalt with it for a pop but I otherwise go with autumn or neutral colours (incl. animal print).
