Make up packaging

How much does make up packaging affect what you buy/like? Do you have favourites?

I ask because I really like Nars products but not their packaging. The blusher lids always snap off (don’t think I am being particularly rough) and the matt black texture generally shows up all marks, not very practical in imo and also weird given the products aren’t cheap

I don't buy products just for the packaging, but it is a bonus when it's lovely.

I agree about Nars, love the products, but the packaging on my blusher is really grubby.

Lol I've never really thought about the packaging...except for one pallet from Anastasia Beverly Hills which is like a velvet pure which was beautiful.

But the poor quality of the packaging would annoy me if the lid snapped. Wouldn't be so bothered about the marks though

I have the special edition oversized Orgasm blush and it came in a shiny metal compact which is much nicer than the usual matt black! Worth looking out for those, they do them fairly often.
I feel similar about Hourglass packaging - I think it looks and feels really cheap and ugly. Very plasticky. Definitely not a luxury feel, although the products seem nice.

Don't buy things only for their packaging but I do admit I love my Rosebud lipbalm more then the other lipbalms I have because I love the retro packaging (very cute tin).
Also would feel more tempted to buy Paul & Joe products then, let's say Clinique, because of their lovely packaging.

Does anyone remember Gucci Rush? I LOVED that perfume but hated the cheap plastic bottle. I do think a luxury packaging is part of the 'good feel' factor of cosmetics.

My nars blusher lid broke off too! And then I leave it open and it gets oily if that makes sense and marks on it! Glad it's not just me!

I really liked Tarte Lights Camera Lashes mascara but the packaging was so awful (a soft plasticky sleeve glued onto a normal mascara tube, which shed glitter) that I binned it after a week.

I agree about Nars blusher. I love the shade "sin" and would never be without it. I've never had any problems with the lid snapping, but I hate the texture of the packaging. It just gets grubby looking so easily, and I have to wipe it down every week. Given the price, it should be far better.
I also really love the Bahama Mama bronzer by TheBalm. Hate the cardboard packaging though as it just feels so cheap, and the mirror in it is beyond useless. I love too faced milk chocolate bronzer as well, and whilst I love the look of the packaging (it at least feels weighty and expensive) it's a right pain to actually open!
Also agree about hourglass packaging. I was shocked at the quality of the blusher one.

I used to buy a lot of Bobbi Brown products. Then I bought a loose powder, dropped the lid within a week of purchase and it broke. Went back to the counter where I'd bought it and they couldn't have been any less interested. No more Bobbi Brown for me!

I'd happily buy more Clarins products except I hate the green packaging.

My favourite pressed powder compact is the Mac one, it fits nicely into the palm of my hand and looks ok.

I love some of the Benefit bronzers but the cardboard packaging is cheap looking and goes grubby so quickly!
