Best foundation for a head shot

Stuckinstressville · 15/10/2020 19:48

Am getting a head shot for a new business profile pic and have been only wearing IT COSMETICS your skin but better for months plus a touch of trinny blusher creme. That's it. I need help!

My skin is ok- am 37 and have light lines but need a bit of oomph as am Shattered and also a bit porky!

Any advice on how to do this myself
Is welcomed as can't get an artist due to 'covid in london!' Rules.

What foundation is the best?bronzer? Eye makeup?

I have brunette curly long hair but mainly
wear it in a bun- two small Kids and I clearly had given up.

I guess anything I buy for a head shot can be used for zoom meetings with clients so have budget to spend!

Really you want a matte full coverage foundation so something like Mac studio fix or esté Lauder double wear. Not sure how to get a colour match these days though, maybe go in and ask for a few samples (in know Mac do these in tiny pots)
Also, I love hourglass dim light as a finishing powder. It’s £££ but you can get travel sized ones for a bit less. It blurs and adds a natural glow. Definitely compensates for the knackered mum factors and for me (pale) removes the need for bronzer
Good luck with the business too!

I'd go for a medium-to-full coverage matte foundation with no SPF (as that can cause flashback in photos). I really like the Dior Forever matte one. Powder any areas that may be too shiny in photos (e.g. Tzone).

For a polished, natural look:

Make sure brows are well groomed as they really change the definition of your face. If you don't have a brow pencil or similar then matte eyeshadow in a slightly lighter shade than your brows, applied with an angled brush, works just as well.

For eyes I would keep them defined but natural. A taupe or mid toned matte eyeshadow on the lid, subtle brow highlight, eyeliner and mascara. The Bobbi Brown cream eyeshadow sticks in Vanilla and Taupe are excellent on me and foolproof if you don't usually wear much eyeshadow. (I am light/medium but there are plenty of other natural shades to choose from).

I'd pick a lipstick one shade darker than your natural lip colour and pick a blush to match. I really like Bobbi Brown lipsticks as she does neutrals so well, MAC also have a great range of colours.

Yes to bronzer but you don't want to overdo it. Pick a matte shade to subtly contour with (NARS Laguna and Benefit Hoola are oldies but goodies in this department).
