Could anyone recommend a good cleanser and toner for my 13yr old DD acne ridden skin please?

Depending on how bad it is, a GP's appointment may be in order, OP.

But La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel (I read a recommendation on here!) really helped my daughter at that age. She's 16 now, still uses it, and has lovely skin.

100% you need ProActiv.

Its' the only thing that works - apart from heavy duty Roaccutane (Which hopefully she's not that bad)

Anything else, you're wasting your money.

If it's full blown acne then you need either the pill or antibiotics or Roaccutane from the GP / Derm.

Thank you each! She also has very heavy periods, so I think I will try and get her a Drs appt. not sure how it works now, with COVID.

If you ring up they’ll sort her out.

The Carbon Theory range (soap and toner) works absolute wonders for acne

SunnySummerDays · 15/10/2020 07:03

We tried everything for ds
Then went to docs and tried more
Eventually had a hosp appt and had roaccutane and it’s all gone! But he does have scarring... so my advice would be catch it early.
Hosp recommendations for skin care were la Roche posey something H and cerave. He’s currently using cerave skin smoothing wash.
But the docs do have lots of options to try.

dexterslockedintheshedagain · 15/10/2020 08:34

Thank you, she's just started with CeraVe, but still going to phone the docs. I tried yesterday but gave up in the end after being on hold for 40 mins Confused

I think think that’s wise. The cosmetics industry has convinced too many people acne’s their fault and not just a bacterial skin infection that can be cured.

reallifegetsintheway2 · 15/10/2020 10:36

I emailed the doctor some photos of my DD's. She prescribed duac - it has been amazing for my DD. Really clear skin. DD doesn't wear foundation anymore to cover up.

SunnySummerDays · 15/10/2020 23:06

I remembered to look at the moisturiser and that was also cerave

lovescaca · 15/10/2020 23:13

salicylic acid cleanser and benzoyl peroxide gel at night. Face might nip and feel very dry first few uses. Just cleanse with warm water and moisturise with oil free moisturiser in the morning x
