Woollen Jumpers

Best place to look (online)?
Good quality, machine washable and reliable sizing. Where would you recommend? I'm still wearing my old school jumpers around the house Blush

I just bought a jumper from Woolovers. It looks good, similar pricing to JL, annoyingly it's a gift so I can't tel you how well it washes. But ordering and delivery was easy and I'm tempted to buy one for myself.

Maybe someone else can attest to their washability...(for us both).

Ps I still wear a school swearahirt sometimes, I'm 40, it must be 25 years old. Soft as heck though.

honigbutter · 14/10/2020 08:31

Woolovers wash well - wool cycle in the machine.

covetingthepreciousthings · 14/10/2020 08:33

Do you have good charity shops near you? The ones in my area have really great quality cashmere and merino wool jumpers in at the moment all for £10-20, it's worth having a look if you're happy with secondhand.

covetingthepreciousthings · 14/10/2020 08:33

Sorry just realised you specified online 🤦🏻‍♀️

ErrolTheDragon · 14/10/2020 08:48

My DD has quite a lot of woolovers jumpers - she used to wear them in the sixth form in winter, so they had hard use and were washed often - wool cycle, air dry, no problem.

Wheytaminute · 14/10/2020 08:52

I have a couple of items from Woolovers - one I have had for a few years. Washing is fine - no shrinkage or stretching.

They often have promotions on - so watch out for that.

p.s. how is Woolovers pronounced? Is it Wool Overs or Woo Lovers?

MyNameForToday1980 · 14/10/2020 08:59

@Wheytaminute interesting question, I hadn't thought of that. I pronounce it like 'pullovers' ...wool-overs.

So am I 😂
Will take a look at woolovers.

Try WS20 for 20% off

I received it via email so not sure if it works for every one -worth a go though.

Uniqlo. Go up one size unless you like the more fitted look though. Merino and Cashmere both excellent (I machine wash the cashmere in a cold hand wash cycle with minimal spin). Great range of colours and pricing.

M&S always on the money for knitwear as well (check the composition though). Again I usually size up.

ErrolTheDragon · 14/10/2020 10:13

I've also had some decent knitwear from Lands End - they're good for petites which I assume means they wouldn't
need to compromise on sleeve length for regular.

It’s on their catalogue which I have right in front of me! I’ve been really pleased with their knitwear.
cannaethink · 14/10/2020 15:26

I’ve got a couple of lambs wool jumpers from Uniqlo which so far have washed well! I’ve got merino wool jumpers from both gap and Uniqlo and I definitely prefer the Gap ones. They’re softer and a better shape at the neck and also the bottom.
I found I needed a medium in Uniqlo for the merino but a small would’ve been fine for the lambs wool top however I just kept the medium. I’m a 10.

bingohandjob · 14/10/2020 21:10

I picked up some gorgeous ones at very good prices from Cos and Arket in the sale. Great colours and quality.

Zengarden001 · 15/10/2020 07:44

I recently bought a lambswool jumper from woolovers and it was terrible. Bobbled a lot. I also bought their merino and cashmere mix and it started to bobble after a few hours of wearing. So perhaps they were once good quality but now not so much. Uniqlo merino is excellent but quite thin.

Teaandscone · 17/10/2020 09:22

I swear by The Country Collection- lambswool that doesn’t pill, warm as toast Shetland and some merino too. Good range of colours. I will wear mine until they fall apart.

Emmapeeler2 · 17/10/2020 09:27

I have a couple of (reduced price) cashmere jumpers from Jigsaw and they are good, wash well and don't bobble.

Someone gave me a Seasalt lambswool jumper and that also never bobbles and washes well.

TableNiner · 17/10/2020 18:50

I have a couple of cardigans from Woolovers. They wash fine but come up very big. Even the XS is on the big side for me (size 10 normally)

earsup · 18/10/2020 00:37

M and s..buy off eBay..good condition ones only..wash well and warm size medium can be a little big but I like them loose !
