Warm washable jumper that doesn't pill?

Can anyone recommend a jumper that's fairly warm, can be washed in a machine and doesn't pill? I'm a size 14 hour glass with big bum and thighs, small waist.
Should I go for longer length? Say top of thighs? I'm never sure. I tend to wear straight leg jeans with turn ups and white trainers.

I'm a summer so muted blues/greys/greens/purples work best in me. But mainly I want a jumper that doesn't look ratty within a couple of wears?

I don't mind paying a bit for it if I'm confident it will last at least a winter or two!

Perhaps there are certain materials I should avoid? Any places I should look? Can't really get to a shop so would need to buy online

Any advice or suggestions welcome! Thanks v much

This is the dream. Grin
The best one I have at the moment is a plain crew neck lambswool jumper from uniqlo, but it has bobbled a bit.

I'm a similar shape to you, and got a lovely jumper recently from Celtic&co which is long enough to cover bum just. The wool is beautiful and it has washed well- I do try not to wash it too often however.

Mixed fibres or fluffy textures tend to bobble. Smooth wool like merino can be long lasting.

Get yourself a clothes bobble shaver then you can laugh in the face of pilling!

Your jumper should end near your slimmest point or else you will look wider than you are. If you are an hourglass, top of thighs sounds like it will widen you. Tucking it in at the front would help.

I don't think knitwear that stays looking good despite being machine washed is a thing. It's friction that causes the bobbling. Maybe inside out on a delicates wash in a bag, but definitely not just chucked in the wash.

Try Woolovers, their lambswool or heavy wool are best for wear. www.woolovers.com/womens/jumpers/womens-chunky-fairisle-jumper-peacock-navy-masala-15948 These are very warm.

Ooh yes, I always forget about woolovers, good shout. Some real gems

Mmm maybe I should be brave a try a shorter style that finishes near my waist. I always lean towards longer tops to try and hide my bum! (It doesn't work Grin)

Another vote for Uniqlo here. I have a merino jumper that is wearing brilliantly and wasn't expensive. Not a bobble in sight. Mid range price wise. Holds it shape really well. I'll be buying another this winter.

Another vote for Uniqlo. I like their Lambswool but I also like their synthetic "souffle yarn" jumpers. They're very warm and soft and you don't have to worry about moths!

I also agree about cropped styles being more flattering. Previous poster said it should finish at your narrowest point which is interesting. I'd never thought of it like that. I just know that cropped jumpers and jackets suit me much better than longer lengths and I'm quite pear shaped with a narrow waist. I've got a short torso so I'd always thought it was to do with that (short torso/high waist suits cropped tops, longer body would suit longer length tops) but I guess it equates to much the same thing.
