What face moisturiser would you recommend?

I am a huge fan of (face) oils, which I use after some serums and actives by The Ordinary. I'd now like to add a moisturiser before my oils. I am using a Nivea one for sensitive skin at the moment but I'd be interested in others' recommendations. I have dry skin and am late forties with fairly good skin.

I don't want to spend £££ because I don't believe that the price tag necessarily matches the quality. So anything I can pick up on the high street or in the supermarket would be great. Thank you.

The Hada Labo one is nice. It's sort of a gel texture. I find it quite light which is good if you use lots of oils etc.

I use lots of nourishing things at night but in the morning not much. Just same vit c, Spf and a little day cream and this suits my dry skin.

I also like the espa day creams

SweetAlmondOil · 12/10/2020 12:37

Gosh, that is quite pricey for a high street product. Love the packaging though!

Aveeno or Cetaphil. You don't need a fancy one as the active ingredients are diluted in the mix. Just make it non-comodogenic and fragrance free.

Serums, oils and toners are where the money should go.

I like the Aldi caviar night time cream, it's really similar to my favourite cream (Neal's Yard Frankincense Intense) in texture and results. It doesn't smell of frankincense, which is one of my favourite smells, but I can get along without that.

I have been bowled over by Astral! So many people use it who could afford more expensive stuff.

I am postmenopausal and dry-skinned for context.

CremantCharlie · 12/10/2020 13:20

Cereve is a good one, good price point too.

NeedWineNow · 12/10/2020 13:43

I'm using Superdrug Vitamin E Day and Night cream at the moment after seeing them recommended on here. Very good for the money I think.

Cavagirl · 12/10/2020 13:45

Seconded Aldi Caviar - better than clarins, which i was using before, and a fifth of the price

sunshineandshowers21 · 12/10/2020 13:48

i’d also recommend the superdrug vitamin e moisturisers. i use the intense moisture one and it’s the only moisturiser i’ve ever bought more than once.

SweetAlmondOil · 12/10/2020 14:48

I have heard of Cetaphil and Cerave and they seem to be good 'basic' creams. Has anyone used both and could share their thoughts? Also, it sounds like Superdrug is the place to go to get face cream!

This one? www.superdrug.com/Skin/Face-Skin-Care/Face-Cream/Superdrug-Vitamin-E-Moisturiser-50ml/p/763958?gclid=CjwKCAjw_Y_8BRBiEiwA5MCBJkzAidB8CCXz8MNkaQ0ciyQ3UKkIvX9lPnCCUy7ryqP-8KXLigRP_RoClVMQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

It has SPF and I already use SPF. Wasn't there something somewhere that said you shouldn't use more than one product with SPF for some reason I now can't recall?

Curel products are absolutely lovely.
I’m 49

Belfastian · 12/10/2020 17:12

Astral is lovely but when I find it too heavy I use the Superdrug Vit E from the tub. It is only an spf15 so I am not sure what negative effect that has on other spfs in use? Lovely though. That whole range is fab.

I've only tried one Aldi one and loved it but there are no Aldis in NI so when it ran out I couldn't easily get more.

Hada Labo is on offer in Super Drug if you did fancy it. I have heard good things about it too.

ParadiseLaundry · 12/10/2020 17:19

I've tried quite a few but always come back to the Nivea unfragranced one (with the purple on the tube, There's one for day and one for night), I think that's the one you meant you used? I totally agree about not needing to spend a fortune.

Rollergirl11 · 12/10/2020 17:43

My daughter uses the Cetaphil rich night cream as a day moisturiser as she has very sensitive, dry skin and a bit of acne. I ran out of my expensive Darphin Equisage and couldn’t get to a Space NK to buy another one so I used some of my daughters Cetaphil. It’s really good, felt very nourishing and completely not greasy despite being quite rich.

Destinysdaughter · 12/10/2020 18:04

Eucerin is v good and suitable for sensitive skin.

OttomanViper · 12/10/2020 18:48

Organic surge. I won't use anything else.

I love the smell of these but don't find them moisturising enough for my skin unfortunately.
BobbinThreadbare123 · 12/10/2020 18:54

Nivea in the blue tub. I am drryyyyy!

PimlicoJo · 12/10/2020 18:59

Aldi caviar day and night creams. I've used lots of expensive moisturisers over the years and these are as good as anything I've ever used.
