‘Custom’ shampoo

The adds for these ‘custom’ shampoos have been following me around the internet for months. You know the ones where you answer a load of questions about your hair type and it’s condition and they send you a shampoo that’s supposed to fix all your issues....?

Has anyone every tried it? Clearly the intense marketing is working because I’m very tempted. This is the one that I keep seeing the most www.functionofbeauty.com/

I’ve tried it and didn’t notice a massive difference from normal products except the expense!

The leave in conditioner is good but the last of it just got used on the dog

I didn’t like the conditioner at all. It was supposed to smell like pear and it honestly smelled like blue cheese! Shampoo was ok but nothing to write home about and being suckered into a subscription left a really bad taste. I don’t like things that don’t make it really clear that it’s a subscription service and you suddenly find yourself with products at the door you don’t want or need.

Similar to others: I tried it once, it smelled nice and was ok, not disastrous, on my hair but certainly not worth the price and no better than other non-‘custom’ ones I’ve tried (and I’m sceptical about how customised it’s really is). I’ve still got the last bit lurking in the bottom of the bottles, haven’t bothered to finish it or to reorder.

I tried it. Didn't particular like either the shampoo or conditioner. Struggled to finish the bottles.

I think really you're just paying a bog premium for the 'novelty'. The 'customisation' surely only runs so far as a vague self assessment of whether your own hair is dry/damaged, normal or oily, is it coloured, and what fragrance do you want. Then they send you one of those pre existing options.

So basically, the same thing you do when you do in a shop yourself and whittle down which shampoo to buy for your own needs and wants except you pay to have your name cheaply printed on the label.

I haven't bought it because I think it's total bs but a good friend has for her DD. She also used it and said it was fine, on par with the likes of herbal essences etc
