Dubarry Boots

I'm really tempted to get a pair of Dubarry Galway boots but the reviews seem mixed and they are expensive! Are they worth it? I'd be really interested in hearing about your experiences of them. Thanks

Depends on what you use them for. Mine died after a year of (mostly dry) dog walking. Rubber sole split at the front. Their customer service is awful and the quality isn’t what it used to be. I think they are made in China now?
Ariat do smart leather boots and their customer service is outstanding. Also look at Fairfax and Favor

Thanks - you would expect better for that sort of money! I'll have a look at Ariat- they sound promising. Thanks again

I love mine but as the previous poster said the quality recently has dropped dramatically - my new ones spilt at the front heel too so there's definitely a quality issue these days. Also a bugger to keep oiled/waxed etc. But for me their worth the hassle because I'm used to them and never give me blisters and are very comfy. My last pair lasted for years so worth the price if you don't mind the odd repair job over the years. I agree there are lots of other boots that are just as good. I've been eyeing up the boots from Dubliner.

Sorry they're called Dublin boots. They look like Dubarrys.

I bought the Dublin ones. They're lovely boots

Direwolfwrangler · 10/10/2020 16:05

I have the Dublin Eskimo boots and they are great. They are six years old and no issues at all.

backinaminute · 17/10/2020 08:49

I've just done a search to ask the same. I've actually got the Dublin boots but the lining has come away inside and they aren't comfy so I'm looking to upgrade to some Dubarrys but worried if they will be the same.....

Another vote for Ariat here. I lived in my Windermere 2 boots last year and am looking forward to the colder weather so I can get them out again this year!

ImAncient · 20/10/2020 16:09

Can I ask if the Windermere are slippery in mucky weather? Or whether eksdale would be better? Thanks

Forresttheout · 21/10/2020 08:10

@ImAncient I have a 5 year old pair of Ariat Windermere's they are pretty slippery if you're walking in mud as the sole is designed to be suitable for horse riding. I've never fallen in them or anything but do have to go slow on particuarly slippy dog walks. I love them because it means I can also ride in them if needed but if you're using them purely for walking not riding then the eskdale would be a better choice

Look at toggi or tuffa boots - both good makes that have lasted me well.

WaltzingBetty · 21/10/2020 08:22

The wrist boots are great quality and v comfy
