Where to get retin a?

Ansumpasty · 09/10/2020 12:27

Does anyone use retin a?
I’ve had acne for years. Don’t have many spots now (I use epiduo) but I’m 34 and my scars (pitted) are looking worse than ever because I’m starting to wrinkle.
I’m looking at changing from epiduo but I can’t seem to find if retin a can still be prescribed in the U.K?
Has it helped anyone else’s pitted acne scars?
Thanks!

Dermatica or Skin+Me

@botemp

Dermatica or Skin+Me
Thanks. Is it legit and safe?

Yes, they're dermatologist services, it's a subscription service that you can stop and start at any time. There's no fee for the consult you just get a customised prescription sent to your home each month (or whatever frequency you set it up as) where they gradually increase the strength.

FeminismIsForALLWomen · 09/10/2020 14:19

I've been using Dermatica for the last few months, it takes a while but I'm noticing a real improvement in my skin now.

troppibambini · 09/10/2020 14:38

Another one saying dermatica it's not an instant fix but 4 months in my skin is looking really good.

Ansumpasty · 09/10/2020 14:39

That’s good to know! Would everyone recommend it over obaji?

Obagi is much more costly, especially if you go for the full system. They do combine it with hydroquinone which helps with pigmentation but you can get that in the Dermatica prescription too. At the end of the day it's all the same active ingredient (tretinoin), Dermatica is a gel and generally well tolerated (I suspect it's micro Tret) and therefore easy to use. Skin+Me is more like traditional tretinoin creams (like retin a and obagi) that asks for more caution, skin+me build you up very gradually as a result and their guidance is more proactive in comparison to Dermatica.

@botemp I’m going to sign up! Which would you recommended? I’m a little nervous about the purging as I’ve only just gone through that with the epiduo

Both try to eliminate excessive purging, Dermatica seems a more gentle formulation and skin+me starts at a very low dose and builds it up gradually and will provide a bit more of a handhold through the process. You can always start with Dermatica and switch over to skin+me later.

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/10/2020 16:55

I use dermatica, no purging.

troppibambini · 09/10/2020 17:17

No purging for me either with dermatica.

FeminismIsForALLWomen · 09/10/2020 17:29

I had a bit of purging with Dermatica but with moisturising and a gentle scrub it was easy enough to deal with and didn't last long. Hopefully it won't happen but with tretinoin be prepared for it to get worse before it gets better.

Londoner99 · 09/10/2020 17:51

I've been using Dermatica for a month now, very pleased and no purging either.

Anotheruser02 · 09/10/2020 18:33

I've had very little purging with dermatica and used most nights from the very beginning. I am still on 0.025 though, it's been just under four weeks.

Ansumpasty · 09/10/2020 20:32

I’m excited to order, will go with dermatica. At least face masks will hide any purging Grin
