Are my lips 'normally' wrinkly? Pic attached

Hi,

I have only noticed over the past couple of weeks. I never really thought about this even being an issue actually on the lips. Around the outside lips, yes, but the more I look at other people's lips, the more crinkled I feel.

I'm wondering if it's these lip plumping exercises I've been doing, where you basically pout like a fish and hold it for a few seconds.....in private Confused I suppose holding your lips in this scrunched up position could be making the lines worse (?) I don't know, maybe they've always been like this.

What do you think?

They look fine to me..possibly chapped die to change in weather?

ageingdisgracefully · 08/10/2020 11:56

due ffs.

Triteful · 08/10/2020 11:58

Look dehydrated. Lips that are absolutely smooth are usually filled to burst.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 08/10/2020 11:58

Have you got lipstick on? Matte lipstick makes my lips look wrinklier.

Brondie · 08/10/2020 11:59

They're not actually chapped right now. Normally are. I think it's the lines that's making them looked chapped Blush

@TooExtraImmatureCheddar, yes. I was actually just raving about the shade, but it is a matte. It feels quite hydrating and I always use a bit of Burt's Bees lip balm underneath.

Not really sure what else I can do to hydrate them.

Just had a look, mine look like that too and I think they’re fine. I’d never noticed.

whitershadeofpale · 08/10/2020 12:11

I think mine are the same. It’s normal, smooth lips are usually due to fillers. I do get dry lips quite often and avoid matt lipsticks at that time.

I think they are fine but I find my lips look more wrinkly if a bit dry but if you gently exfoliate them (I use a face cloth or something like that) they will probably look more smooth

Veterinari · 08/10/2020 12:20

Totally normal. POSs just a bit dehydrated. Drink more

RiskIt4Biscuit · 08/10/2020 12:27

Absolutely normal.

If you're not happy with it, look into other lip products - matte products generally enhance the lines IME.

Creamy lipsticks (satin finishes can be a bit hit and miss) do not enhance the lines in the same way as mattes. Glosses and balms are worth considering too.

ChronicallyCurious · 08/10/2020 12:43

Look a bit dehydrated. Drink more water maybe

Sasuma · 08/10/2020 13:26

They look completely normal to me, maybe a little dehydrated. I know I can sometimes tune into something and become very aware of it - is it possible that you’re doing that?

Brondie · 08/10/2020 14:10

Hmm would drinking more water really help with these kind of lines?

@whitershadeofpale, I don't think yours are wrinkly like mine.

@Sasuma, possibly. It's not uncommon for me to get fixated on a "fĺaw" of mine Confused I do tend to put myself down quite a bit, so maybe this is just going to be another thing.

Great!

God what on earth are you worrying about? Your lips are absolutely lovely, full and such a pretty shape. They are not wrinkled in any way. Put down the mirror and get on with your day. Smile

Audreyseyebrows · 08/10/2020 18:08

Is everyone else looking in the mirror to check their lips or just me?

Op, you’ve got lovely lips.

Standandwait · 08/10/2020 18:48

Don't look any more wrinkly than normal to me. Nice and full, too -- I'm well jealous

Brondie · 08/10/2020 19:13

@SmileyClare, @Audreyseyebrows and @Standandwait Smile Thank you!

Surely lips are supposed to be a little wrinkly? Otherwise we wouldn't have the mobility we have in our mouths? OP your lips look lovely.

JumperTime · 08/10/2020 19:34

Yeah am pretty sure all lips have lines dont theyConfused. Coconut oil and sugar makes a lovely edible lip scrub, worth a try?

This lip sleep mask is really good. I've been using it for about three weeks and seen a great improvement.

Well I'm going to go against the grain here and say that while Your lips don't look excessively wrinkly it has been proven that doing the type of exercise whereby you in effect pull faces - and thereby impose a strained 'wrinkly' expression on your features - can indeed actually deepen wrinkles over a long period. I can also vouch for this first hand - I started doing that facial exercise routine where you do exactly this but for all areas of the face, with the long term aim that you build up the underlying muscle and the therefore reduce wrinkles (I even bought a book 🤦‍♀️). After a couple of months I realised my wrinkles had actually got worse Confused Hmm and it dawned on me what I'd been doing...! Obviously stopped immediately Grin but the damage was done (my grin lines have never recovered!). When I researched it I found i wasn't alone; i think in order for that kind of approach to work you gave to start it when your skin is young and elastic enough to withstand it!

Not saying you're old, OP, or that you've permanently wrinkled your lips, but it's definitely been proven this kind of manoeuvre can have this effect! Maybe better if you super-lube them just beforehand..? 🤔
