Which shop has the best sizing

Ok, probably a really stupid question but the last 10 years I've been obese and lived in jersey and elasticated baggy stuff.

I'm dieting and close to leaving the obese range and my clothes are all really really baggy now so I'd like to start looking at some new clothes but...

COVID means we can't try on and I have absolutely no clue what size I am so I'd like to order some clothes in a few sizes from high street reasonably priced places as it will hopefully be a temporary wardrobe while I keep losing and see how it works out.

Which stores have the most consistent sizing, H&M is a bugger for having random sizes where 3 pairs of trousers in the same size are actually inches different, Zara too, sainsburys trousers I find big from my experience with joggers.

Is next or M&S usually true to size?

I find Uniqlo very consistent and their questionnaire on size has always worked for me too. It takes into account body shape as well as height and weight etc.
(I also love their clothes)

Second Uniqlo. I find M and S sizing is very inconsistent.

I find Uniqlo consistent. I also find New Look consistent. Next are consistent but slightly large i.e. it'll say a 12 but it's more like a 13/14 (if a 13 existed!). I find Sainsbury's pretty good except for skirts. Fat Face are pretty good.

Thank you, I'll take a look at Uniqlo. I've done a few of the size calculators on other sites and they need you to identify a brand and what size you wear with them so they can find the right size and that doesn't help when you don't have a brand or size Grin

M&S can vary but there are nearly always reviews to guide you on their website. Agree Uniqlo is pretty consistent but I find the trousers can come up a little big, depending on the style and your body shape.

May or may not be your taste, but the other H&M brands Cos & Arket are consistent, and Zara not bad (though it runs small if anything, whereas the former err on the large side). There are some lovely things in John Lewis's own brands range, Kin is always huge (I'm a 14 and take a 10 in most of their trousers!). The others (And/Or, Modern Rarity, JL) are more true to size.

As a rule of thumb I find US & Scandi brands run larger and French/Spanish ones smaller.

I find H and M excellent if you are long of limb. We all have long arms and legs, and H and M is our go to for trousers and anything with long sleeves.

In my experience the most consistent sizing by far is Dorothy Perkins. All other shops i can fit various sizes in one particular shop. In Dorothy Perkins any clothes I'll get from there will pretty much always be the same size

Thanks all, had a few minutes to run into Primark at lunch and grabbed some size 18 jeans with as little stretch as I could find and while a snug fit they do up without creating a muffin top.

So I think I can safely say I've gone down as was buying size 22 trousers.

Any idea how primark compare size wise to places like Dorothy Perkins and H&M?
