Interview at Next, what should I wear?

This is the first interview I’ll have had that is for a fashion retail role and not an office based role. I’d usually go for full smart office attire, but don’t know if this is appropriate or necessary for an interview for Next.

If I don’t get the job at Next I’ll definitely be applying for more similar roles so I need to invest in an outfit suitable for a high street retail job interview.

Any ideas?

I would still wear smart office attire for any interview.
Good luck!

i would try to wear something currently in stock at next, even if it’s just a statement item of jewellery. good luck!

Is this in a next shop or more head office?
If its a shop I'd head down and check out what the other sales assisants/managers are wearing and start from there.
Head office - mostly they wear smartish fashion clothes so you probably wont go too wrong with an interesting shirt and some decent trousers with boots.

Look very smart & polished so I'd say a suit is the best option, good luck!

Thanks 😊

See, I want to look smart and well presented of course, but I also want to wear something that’s fashion forward and fun without being garish.

Are you having a normal face to face interview or by video eg zoom?

I work in fashion retail (manager level) and do a lot of interviewing. I wouldn’t advise wearing a suit unless it’s head office based or an area manager role etc. I really wouldn’t expect someone who is applying for a role in store to turn up in a suit...They’re viewed as quite old fashioned now and definitely not fashion forward.

How about black cigarette trousers with ankle boots or kitten heels and a brightly coloured silky blouse? Or a bright shift or wrap dress with black tights and loafers or ballet flats? Definitely some jazzy earrings or a statement bag.
Try to avoid the waitress or sixth former look.
