Seasonal colour analysis - does it work??

As above really! I’m either, according to different sites soft autumn, warm autumn, true autumn or very occasionally spring!
I’m just not sure about the colours suggested. I look shite in pink yellow or orange.
My hair colouring has naturally changed over time from being fairly bright auburn to a muted reddish brown. But as a redhead with green eyes I always looked great in black.

Is it all just a load of rubbish- I’m having a midlife wardrobe crisis Confused

I'm in a FB group for colour analysis and it strikes me all the seasons are versatile and lovely. Autumn is definitely not muddy or top to toe brown. The only struggle is if you have unusual combinations e.g. soft colours and bold dramatic style, it cam be hard to shop. Or if out of step with fashion like I am advised not to wear baggy long dresses.

I suppose it is difficult to judge from an online quiz. I could potentially be a Spring, I suppose. That’s got more blue in it. Blue isn’t even my favourite colour, but like I said I have been told I suit it.

I think it's a good idea - my only beef was not including hair colour, your hair is pulled back off your face and covered.
I find it hard to believe that hair colour is irrelevant.

I'm a traditional Spring, which has a disturbing amount of peach and pink in the palette. You can still wear colours outside your palette, just away from your face e.g. I have loads of black trousers. I wear mainly the stronger jewel colours - turquoise, teal, violet and royal blue. If someone says I look good in something, or I look well. 9 times out of 10 I'm wearing a "spring" colour.

Most people's hair colour isn't natural though so needs to be removed from the decision.

And every season can wear blue, it is about which tones and shade of blue are most flattering on you.

As a summer, I don't wear even black trousers anymore, they don't coordinate with any of my other clothes so wouldn't be useful.

I’d love to do HoC but I don’t know anyone who’s done it. What would be a good way to get recommendations for a consultant instead of just going for the one closer to me?

HoC have the website where you can find consultants but then the individual consultants usually have their own Facebook page too so you could look at that to get a bit more of a feel for how engaged (and therefore satisfied) their customer base is.
ChickensMightFly · 08/10/2020 09:19

You never know, you might even find someone you know has 'liked' their page and you could then ask them if they have first hand experience

NotMeNoNo · 08/10/2020 12:47

You can look at how much detail the consultant puts in their bio page, do they have a facebook page and what impression does it give, the more experienced consultants usually have quite a bit of social media material, videos etc.

I was "draped" by Nikki Bogardus a few years ago and I have to say she knew what she was doing and could definitely see a difference with the correct colours.

I have very dark hair, pale neutral skin, blue/green eyes and I came out as a Light Spring. I had also had an online photo analysis before my in-person draping session (with a different analyst), which pegged me as a Light Summer, but I didn't ever really like the colours much. When I saw the Light Spring fan I instantly LOVED the colours. Not hugely different to Light Summer but they were brighter and clearer. Just lovely!
The main issue I have is finding clothes I like (style-wise), in the right colours. It's a struggle! I generally wear all Light Spring friendly cosmetics, but clothes are a bit hit and miss. I can definitely tell the difference when I do wear something in one of "my" colours though!

Are the consultants doing online sessions does anyone know? I’m in a part of the country where we will basically be going nowhere soon!
