Product recommendations for Roaccutane

I've posted before but now can't find the thread Hmm

I was prescribed Roaccutane three weeks ago and as expected, it's dried my skin and lips out. It's also given me dandruff.

Please could you reccomend me products to tackle this.

I need moisturiser, something for my lips, something for my scalp and a new foundation.

I'm barely wearing make up at the moment but I wore it last week and what I've got now seemed to highlight any dryness and looked flaky.

I'm fair skinned and like medium to full coverage.

I'm currently using the Lidl daytime moisturiser that comes in a jar, whatever lip balm I have to hand, the Body Shop dupe ginger shampoo & conditioner and Phoera foundation.

TIA Smile

I've had 3 courses of Roaccutane, so tried quite a lot of products. A kind salesperson at Boots took pity on my cracked skin and gave me a whole bunch of samples to try. I found the Avene Recovery cream in "rich" worked really well, it's designed for ultra dry skin. Normal moisturisers wouldn't touch the sides.

Thanks @violetbunny. So far the Lidl stuff is working but my dosage is being upped on the 19th so I'm expecting to need something more hardcore.

Right now I'm at the purge stage so I've got horrid blackheads and flakes. My scalp also seems to have a crust that flakes if I touch it.

I slathered on Vaseline at night and seemed to escape the worst of the flaking. Didn't have scalp issues though as Vaseline wouldn't work for that.

Use a good moisturiser everyday like the Ordinary Natural Moisturising Factors and at night apply something heavier like La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume. The Baume is really great at repairing dry damaged skin. Tinted Moisturiser instead of foundation might be better, I like the Nars one. Can't help with a lip balm as I'm still looking for a good one myself.

Thanks for the suggestions. I wonder about tinted moisturiser. Usually I don't find it has enough coverage but I might have go compromise on that because it's better than looking like my face is falling off.

La Roche Posay Toleraine range
Cerave range
DD tells me the LRP Cicaplast lip balm is the best, and we’ve tried a lot! I used to find Elizabeth Arden 8 hour smelly stuff the best for lips.

Good luck! Roaccutane is wondrous stuff!

MooGoo shampoo and conditioner for your scalp.

All of the above are really good suggestions. You could also try cetreban, diprobase or Aveeno.

If your skin starts to feel cracked and sore the use Dermol 500 and or Dermol 600 which is an emollient you can also wash with helping the integrity of your skin.
You can buy these OTC or possibly even get them prescribed by your GP apart from the Aveeno.

Nivea do some great non greasy hydrating body lotions as well

CleanQueen123 · 07/10/2020 10:31

Thank you.

I should have added, I'm using Aveeno to wash my face, as recommended by my dermatologist.

I'm desperate to dermaplane it like I usually do but I'm not sure if I'm allowed. I don't want to do more damage but I really want to get rid of all the gunk and flakes I've got.
