I am loving the look of the dresses/tunics but

(a) I am a busty shortarse
(b) what is the quality/washability like?

I don't want to make an expensive mistake if someone here can give me a review.

I have two quite plain dresses - one linen/cotton mix and one jersey. Both have washed well (they’re about three or four years old and going strong) and the quality is fine but not really much better than that — it’s a bit better than M&S but not like Toast or even Cos. So possibly worth it if you love the design, but not good value for plainer pieces.

In terms of cut, lots of stuff is meant to be layered or to skim, so there’s plenty of ease in things.

The only issue I have is that returns aren’t free. You either need to pay postage yourself - which can be a lot if you need to insure above £50, or they deduct £10 from the return. I think if you’ve been buying from them for a while you start to get free returns, but I’m still whinging about a parcel I had to return last week.

I love Gudrun Sjoren designs and their sizing is good for me but I haven't ordered from them in a while as I find the fabric are stiff and scratchy and I didn't like the sensation on my skin. Maybe things have changed recently but I couldn't recommend them

I have quite a few things. I find some styles suit me and some don´t, and as I know which ones do, then it is easy to order from them online. But I wouldn´t recommend ordering online without going to a shop to try on different models first, not least of all because, as another poster said, you have to pay to send stuff back. The quality is good, and the items I have, I have had for years and use a lot.

Bigpaintinglittlepainting · 06/10/2020 06:04

I think the quality depends on the item, I’ve had two blouses from there, one faded over time and was a beautiful handprinted blue, never really washed it just faded. I think it was for layering but cost £££ and another blouse which leaked red dye and was ruined very early on, got it replaced and it did it again!
However the jersey is good quality a do have a pair of the trousers which have lasted about 9 years ! You probably need to go to the store or be prepared to send stuff back. It’s expensive !

I have long sleeved t shirts that I bought years ago, 100% cotton, which are wearing well, though I don't tumble dry. I bought what looked like a similar one but it is a lighter weight fabric but still wears well.
I am busty and the loose styles make me look big.

I bought some knitwear and tops from the shop in Stockholm. The quality has been good for me. The knitwear washes well and stays in shape (boxy cardi), and the tops haven't faded. I found the sizing quite odd on me (tall hourglass) and I had to try on a lot to find things that suited me. Do they give actual garment measurements on the website? Or a fit guide? Having said that, I'd certainly buy again. The colours are gorgeous.

I've been buying from them for years, both online and from the London store.

I love their cotton and linen knitwear and the jersey tops. I have a couple of linen dresses too. The quality is good.

In terms of sizing, I recently found out that the models are wearing size M in the photos. That was really helpful for me as I imagined they would be wearing their "own size" i.e. XS or S as they are all so slim.

Craftycorvid · 13/10/2020 21:55

I’ve been a Gudrun fan for years. In the main the quality is great and I’m still wearing a few pieces I’ve had for years. I also like their commitment to organic fibres. They can vary a lot though. My main gripe is that fabrics that look beautiful in the catalogue may actually feel very thin and insubstantial in real life. If you live near enough, a visit to the London store is a good idea so you can check out anything you fancy in the catalogue. Oh and I’m less of a fan of some of the ‘mad Victorian housemaid’ and ‘adult toddler’ styles Gudrun occasionally goes in for. Winter coats are usually beautiful, footwear the same.

Thanks all, very helpful info as it's made me decide to spend my money elsewhere till I can actually see the stock in person 👍
