Does anyone have any reccomendations for deodorants that don't contain the bad stuff like aluminium?
Ones that actually work and smell nice?

I use the Tisserand deoderant which is aluminium and paraben free. I have tea tree, lemon and rosemary which is very nice. Also comes in lavender and lemon. I get it from my local health food shop and it costs about £5 a bottle but lasts for ever!

lush do a good one you need to put it on wet and it does work - I was amazed
it may be quite scented I am not sure, my sense of smell is really bad so it smells fine to me but I know a lot of people find Lush stuff over-scented. I don't think this is.
I've tried lots of "natural" deos over the years and this is the only one that works for me (I used to be a mitchum girl so that tells you all you need to know I am sure!)

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 11/10/2007 20:49

But do they stop the sweat or are you sweaty but not smelly?

sammysam · 12/10/2007 09:17

Hi, I've used Toms of Maine, which has some sort of rose aroma. It 's fine, but I'm not that whiffy so I don't tend to wear deoderant most of the time.

My hubby found one of the other aromas brought him out in a rash. His current fave is from Boots & it's little rocks in water which he has to shake & then spray. He's currently using PitRock £5ish from Waitrose.

granarybeck · 15/10/2007 20:25

The bionsen one is good

sammysam · 16/10/2007 10:29

Dr Hauschka rose -lovely smell but quite pricey.

FlameBat · 16/10/2007 10:32

How about a salt one and just wear some perfume?

jabberwocky · 16/10/2007 10:41

I use the salt crystal one. It seems to work really well - or else everyone is just being really polite

nangnangnang · 16/10/2007 11:42

Stay well clear of the Jason one (unless you want space on the train) - I tried it and I'm sure I smelled far worse than if I hadn't bothered at all. And it was about £7.

bigspender30 · 16/10/2007 20:02

where can you buy the salt crystal one?

Furball · 16/10/2007 20:04

you can get pit rok crystal in boots. it does not stop you sweating though

bigspender30 · 17/10/2007 12:57

do any of the salt crystal ones stop you sweating?

IWannaBeLikeYou · 17/10/2007 13:15

Crystal ones are quite good (they come in roll on, spray or stick), they don't stop you sweating, but neutralize the smell.
Weleda have Wild Rose, Sage and Lemon and are not too bad.

MaryAnnSingletomb · 17/10/2007 13:18

I think I Nmight try the Lush one - there's a san dalwood version and that's my favourite scent...

sammysam · 23/10/2007 16:55

thanks for all your suggestions......better start trying them out!

Meglet · 23/10/2007 19:21

Hope this isn't too biased but I work for lush and the only ones I will touch are the aromant and aromaco, I've used them for years, they are really good. Can't stand the powdery ones (krystal, teo etc) or the creamy one (aromacreme - yuck).

BearMama · 25/10/2007 09:36

I loooove the Weleda herbal deodorant. Doesnt stop you sweating but does stop the smellies and it smells gorgeous!

However at mo I am being very bad and using a glue-your-pores-shut unscented one from Boots

Piffle · 25/10/2007 09:46

pitrock is excellent. no fragrance
but if you use a perfume anyway you do not need it
I was very surprised how well it controls - it is a natural anti perspirant v v good
