Hi! New user here so might not be doing this correctly but I need advice on whether the Farrow and Ball colour in matchstick is the right choice for our hallway as we are really in doubt. Any recommendations or ideas really welcome. Thanks

If you look on Pinterest or even google you'll see lots of hallways in Matchstick. Some look nice enough but to me it's a bit too yellow and overpowering for hallways. But I think it's personal, so if you like it, go for it.

Hi thanks for your comment. Trying to add a photo to my original post but finding it impossible

Having just redecorated our whole house, the ONLY way to decide on paint is to buy a sample pot and to paint it on a couple of decent sized cards, A3 for preference. Stick them on different walls and look at them at different times of day.

The difference can be astounding between the same colour on adjacent walls because of the light. A photo of the paint in someone else's house will tell you nothing, you need to see how it work in your own house to avoid expensive mistakes.

I don't think anyone could reliably tell you really OP, paint colours need to be seen at various times of day and in natural and artificial light, in the room in question, to really see what that will look like on the wall. I've just painted a whole house and it's been quite a drag really.

As a colour generally on the face of it, it looks like it has a lot of yellow tones. If the room is cool or north facing with limited light it might warm it up but for me it would be too much. It looks like a very saturated magnolia to my eyes. I could see it potentially working as part of a colour palette with some darker colours such as greys or F&B DeNimes say, but wouldn't fancy it as a whole wall. I don't rate F&B anyway but that's a separate issue.

Hopefully some pics will help if you can get them up. Have you got any other candidates? How would you like the room to look and feel?
