Could someone recommend a home Brazilian blow dry treatment please?

I've read about an Amazon one on here but can't seem to find which one.

Thank you!

Had it done in the salon but after a month I can see it's wearing off and don't want to spend £100 every month.

Brazilian blow dry or Keratin treatment, the latter is not as harsh.

thelilachen · 01/10/2020 07:10

Ah yes, it was a keratin treatment I had at the salon.

Cocochocco from Amazon. [https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cocochoco-Professional-Premium-Keratin-Treatment/dp/B01AVFQ2OQ Here]]

Then, you MUST buy a decent shampoo and conditioner. I use this [https://www.allbeauty.com/gb/en/search/?q=Keratin%20complex Keratin Complex]]

If you do you Keratin treatment every 3 months (mine coincides with my 3-month colour and cut) then it will just build on top of it I find, in a good way. After a few treatments I found that I may not even need it, it was so smooth and silky. I use M Moroccan oil after condition.

You need very hot flat irons, over 120 degrees. I do mine at home and I have to say it is a lot better than any salon treatment I have had.

Apparently I have very shiny, swishy hair. Wink

Sorry about epic link fails.

Honestly OP, I have paid up to £200 to have Keratin treatments in good salons and I would never do it again. I am set on these products.

Ooh, watching with interest. I've had 3 treatments, I think the first 2 were Brazilian blowouts (done by a mobile hairdresser friend, the old banned formaldehyde formula I suspect) and lasted 3 months each, but the last one was £180 salon keratin treatment and it only lasted a month. Sad

I'd do my own at home if I could - I have 230 degree GHDs to beat my frizzball into submission, that should do it!?

The idea of doing it terrifies me though, it seems like hours of straightening even when someone else is doing the work.

Absolutely avoid shampoo with sodium chloride, ie salt. Very very few of high street brands are salt free so look for one online.

EsterOdesavitch · 01/10/2020 11:40

It used to be "sulphate free" shampoo that was insisted upon to avoid stripping the treatment off the hair, but even using that, my previous one lasted only 4 weeks or so. The salt free approach appears to be fairly recent, at least, the salon never mentioned it to me when I had a treatment 2 years ago!

Maybe if I'd known it would have lasted longer...

I have done this once - do NOT be like me and put the treatment on and then somehow think you're meant to STRAIGHTEN IT DRY .

I believe you paint the stuff on, blow-dry it, THEN straighten it. The side I did this on was much more successful.

I bought a cheap 'hairdressers dye kit' on amazon too - a bowl, brush, cape, and ear guards and would say that is well worth it.

Hmm, tempted to do it myself now but mom bob means no real need...

EsterOdesavitch · 01/10/2020 12:06

I seem to have found myself with a mom bob as well, unintentionally. But it's still a huge pouff of frizz after washing so any smoothing treatment is useful.

I tried the curly girl method once, for about 6 months. LOL, worzel. Went to a curly hair specialist, who advised me to wear it straight... Confused

BletheringHeights · 01/10/2020 13:46

Hmm, yes i do follow the curly girl method of washing only, but none of the faffing with plopping etc as I have straight hair. Just washing with conditioner and not shampoo dramatically reduced my frizz. And getting less but more strategic highlights.
