Anyone used a sun screen with iron oxide that doesnt leave them looking like a zombie?!

My dermatologist recommended that i get a sun screen with iron oxide in to prevent more pigmentation on my face. I've got one from Bioderma and it makes me look like an actual zombie! I've been looking at reviews for others and there's a mixed bag out there. Can anyone recommend any that they use that won't make me look like i'm early for the Halloween party?

Are you mixing up iron oxide with zinc oxide? Iron oxide would leave you orange, zinc ghostly.
I know iron oxide has some benefits for pigmentation as it blocks some visible light and infrared which other UV filters don't but afaik the percentage needed would be unwearable (from an aesthetic point of view. The general advice seems to be to go for tinted and just enjoy the small potential benefit of iron oxides there alongside physical filters (zinc oxide and titanium dioxide) as well as minimising the white cast.

Neostrata and Colorscience both do a good tinted sunscreen with a decent range of skin tone adaptability. £££ though and you'll go through one bottle a month when using the appropriate amount. Avene does a good one too but the colour has to suit you.

Lovely thanks Botemp - i've got Neostrata on my list already but will definitely check out Avene and Colourscience too

Dr Dennis Gross 50spf dark spot reducer is a physical sunscreen and blends in really well, much better than most others I've tried.

Otherwise i think tinted is a good way to go as pp has said. I have a 40spf alumier physical sunscreen which is tinted which could be worth a look

Ones to avoid: clinique, neurogena, Jason
