Comfy waterproof boots/shoes for long school run

My school/nursery route is now around 4 miles, twice a day. Mostly pavements and a bit of park rather than off road.

So far I’ve been wearing some trainers which have been perfect on the comfort front but are no good when it’s raining (which it will be, a lot).

I’m carrying a bit of extra timber (hopefully all the walking will help) and I’m quite hard on my shoes. Oh and my feet tend to be cold. I had some Ugg leather boots last year (shorter school run) but I found they weren’t entirely waterproof and didn’t last that well. Hiking boots seems like overkill for the terrain. It’s too far for wellies. Help!

I can’t recommend Dubarrys enough, they are so warm and comfy and also very light and flexible. I appreciate they’re pricey and I’m sure there’s lots of other brands that are very similar but you can’t go wrong with a pair of knee length boots. They keep you lovely and warm, especially if you’ve got a knee length coat too. And they come in different colours.

And obviously they’re very waterproof!

Fitflop mukluk boots are amazingly warm and comfortable.

I can usually by Adidas sight-unseen as they, like my feet, are long & narrow. I'm an 8.5UK and buy Adidas ladies sz 11US. However - recently bought a pair of Terrex Folgian hiker shoes and they are longer and MUCH wider than any of their other shoes. So if your feet are narrow, I'd think carefully! I'm trying to get rid of them 🙁. I've just discovered Jack Wolfskin - fantastic hiker shoes, and waterproof! So comfy.
