Can I safely get teeth whiter than you can get in the UK by going abroad?

I see ordinary people on Youtube all the time who have these lovely white teeth that you just don't see many people walking around with where I am in the UK (East coast of Scotland). Although I occasionally see someone with them here (and some of the people on Youtube are brits). I was just wondering if it's to do with laws on bleach strength? I know Americans have these megawatt smiles and I'm not sure I want to go paper white but I would rather like to go a little whiter than what I've been able to achieve through bleaching here. Partly because I took medication that made my teeth go quite badly yellow in my early twenties, although UK bleaching has definitely improved that.

Can you go abroad and get better results safely or is that just wishful thinking? And if you can, will it break the bank? I probably don't care enough to pay thousands to be honest but might spend a little less than that.

How have you been whitening them so far? I used bleach and trays provided by my dentist and it makes my teeth really white (I do it maybe every 3 -4 months and for the first few days, I'm always a bit oh shit my teeth are SO bright!)

I would also suggest that a lot of the dazzling celeb smiles you see are actually veneers. Also worth considering that maybe your teeth simply won't go whiter - I can't remember the details but DH has some kind of condition where his teeth are quite mottled and the dentist said no amount of bleaching would ever change that.

PrimeraVez I used the trays too but have only done it twice. I did see an improvement. It just wasn't spectacular.

The people I see on Youtube are more just vloggers and influencers. I can see the influencers might have the money for veneers but I had assumed the plain old vloggers probably wouldn't!

If they are super white they are probably fake/ veneers crowns etc

trouncedaast · 29/09/2020 14:10

I'm a dentist. They are probably veneers or crowns.
Try not to get carried away with influencers. I promise you that it's all
Smoke and mirrors! The bleaching supplies by your dentist will be the correct percentage bleach that can be used safely and will be covered by Uk and EU regulations.

Remember many pictures are photoshopped. My US cousins all have pure white veneers. They look ridiculous. I use the tooth whitening from the dentist. It won't be stronger in another country.

Interesting you do it so frequently though - I had thought you could only do it once every few years!

As other have said, veneers. Which are dreadful for your teeth and have big upkeep costs.

I’m unclear what it is you’ve used to date for bleaching?

JonHammIsMyJamm · 29/09/2020 14:31

Veneers

Filters & photoshopping/photo-editing.

I’d be worried about very strong bleach and tooth and gum sensitivity.
