Dyson Airwrap

Hi, I have been given a significant amount of John Lewis vouchers for a recent 'big' birthday and am thinking of getting an Airwrap.

I have very thick, dry coarse hair and wondered if anyone with similar hair type has one and could let me know if it is good.

I know it is horrendously expensive and I wouldn't ordinarily even consider it but as I have the vouchers I am thinking of getting one.

I've got pretty thick hair, and I love my airwrap! I actually bought it following my hairdresser buying one, and I really do love it. It just seems to dry my huge amounts of hair very quickly!

Thank you @WhatInFreshHell I went to Bluewater today to try it out as they have a stand and I did like it and technically I would be getting it for free but can't help but think it's so expensive

I ordered one from Dyson about 10 weeks ago, I absolutely loved it but couldn't justify the price, I decided to return it under Dyson's 35 day return policy.
I regretted it straight away and after two weeks without it I reordered one.
If you have the vouchers and have nothing else that you need to spend them on then its certainly worth getting one.
It will last a long time, far longer than other things that John Lewis sell and if you do end up not using it then you could sell it on?

I have one and wish I didn’t. It was so expensive and although it gives me a great curly blow dry it only lasts about an hour and then it’s flat again.

I have thick coarse hair and I absolutely love my Dyson airwrap. I was cynical but am totally won over. It's the only thing that has ever worked for me.

BlueThistles · 26/09/2020 22:09

I have one, Ive used it once 😏

Tangelo · 27/09/2020 01:28

I have one. I use it every other day, but in honesty wouldn’t buy it again — while the rough dryer is great and I love the smoothing/volumising brushes, the curls are somehow fiddlier than using my straighteners and also drop out faster.
I should say my hair is pretty well behaved in any case: it’s fine but plentiful and pretty smooth and straight naturally.
What I would do, however, is but the dyson drier instead. My hair is in great condition despite being blow dried three or four times a week, and it’s super shiny, I just don’t need all the airwrap extras to get it that way

I am a huge dyson hair products fan and while I love my hairdryer I don’t love the air wrap. My hair is just too thick to have time to do the wrapping bits. Currently saving up for straighteners.

IloveJudgeJudy · 27/09/2020 21:50

Me, too. I love my Dyson hairdryer. I tried the Airwrap from QVC and had to return it. I really wanted to love it. The smoothing brush was great but the curling bits dried out my ends

Londoner99 · 28/09/2020 20:00

It depends on your hair type and what you need it for. I've got thick wavy hair and the all the attachments work well on me apart from the curling wands.

balzamico · 28/09/2020 20:15

I have lots of fine hair that tends towards frizzy and I live my airwrap.
The curls don't always last so I use that part the least as you have to put in so much product but I get a really good result easily with it

ChrissyPlummer · 28/09/2020 21:43

I second pp saying get the dryer. I got an Airwrap a couple of years ago for Christmas. I think I only used the curling things about three times. It’s SO fiddly. I also have lots of thick, coarse hair and while usually, if I’d done my hair with the Secret Curl, those bendy rollers or my Aurora Band, I’d get 2/3 days out of the curls, the Dyson didn’t last me one day and took ages to do. You also have to do it at just the right level of dampness; too wet and it won’t work, too dry and it won’t work either.

I feel guilty as DH bought it for me and while I’ve had good use from the dryer and the brushes, I haven’t really used the main feature. I fell for the demo as well, but it just didn’t work for me. I wish I’d just got the dryer, especially as I now have a pixie cut!

I love my Airwrap. My hairs healthier than pre Airwrap and I don't wash it nearly as much. There's a Facebook page with lots of examples of people with different types of hair and product recommendations.
I bought mine from dyson so I could return it during the trial period. I'd buy another if it broke without hesitation.

TheoneandObi · 28/09/2020 22:48

I've got one and nearly ebayed because the curling tool just didn't work for me. But then I discovered the blow dry brush attachment and it's ace!

BlueThistles · 01/10/2020 12:41

I really cannot get any of the tools to work, Im close to selling the lot for a pittance 🌺
