Show us your loungewear

So, in anticipation of spending lots of time in my house this winter hanging out, drinking wine and watching TV, I have decided to buy some loungewear.

I was going to splash out a bit on something fancy but was just in Asda and quite taken aback by some of their slouchy stuff.

I just bought this and wish I had bought a few others. The picture doesn't do it justice TBH. It is super soft, like cashmere. I loves it I do.

Come on, show us your loungewear. Or, what you have our eye on.

@MacOrMc TBH this is a question I ask myself frequently when buying clothes? How pale is it and the likelihood of something dark or staining being spilt over it.

Buggedandconfused · 25/09/2020 23:42

I have these

uk.gymshark.com/products/gymshark-pippa-training-joggers-black-shark-logo

Absolutely love them. They still look great 6 months later wearing them every week, don’t lose stretch and are really flattering & soft. £25 worth every penny!

mrschocolatte · 26/09/2020 04:40

I’m all about loungewear this Autumn. I have just purchased this wrap cardigan....

with matching trousers....

They feel nice on and pretty comfy too!

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 26/09/2020 04:51

I get the black harem trousers from Morrisons. Respectable enough to answer the door in and nip to the shop because they aren't technically 'indoor' trousers, but are still soft and slouchy.

redlockscelt · 26/09/2020 04:54

@XingMing

I don't have loungewear, because I'm 64. I wear jeans all day with a jumper, or joggers before going in the shower in the morning.
I will still have loungewear, why wouldn't you.
THisbackwithavengeance · 26/09/2020 04:58

I second the black harem trousers from Morrisons. My WFH staple. Go with everything. Have kept their colour and shape despite a million washes. And they were about a tenner.

SueVlaki · 26/09/2020 05:07

I've got my eye on the Gary fleece sweatpants.

I also returned the summer ones as they were just too thin, and (and I'm a massive SB fan) just overpriced I thought. I lived in SB leggings through lockdown.

LivingoffCoffee · 27/09/2020 11:35

Just picked up the Asda set - it's so soft!!

What shoes do people end up wearing with loungewear? I can never quite decide if it's appropriate, just want to throw on (trainers? Uggs?) to do nursery pick up or run to the store. Or do I need to put real clothes on to go out in public...

Aunty5ocial · 27/09/2020 11:46

I recently bought the coveted Hush Aime joggers at £55 a pair. I thought they would transition from loungewear to smart ish casual wear and make me look amazing but I actually look a bit scruffy in them.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 27/09/2020 12:34

I wear proper clothes for working at home, but the minute my laptop shuts I am in loungewear. I have a few pairs of these - mine are from last year, and I have grey, navy, and black - which I wear with a jumper and Ugg boots.

Are the Sweaty Betty yoga pants really vastly nicer than general brand competitors? I don't mind paying extra for something vastly nicer, but I don't want to just pay for the label!

Tangelo · 27/09/2020 14:28

I have a pair of these M&S joggers that I like for WFH but have happily worn out of the house with a tucked-in top (tho they are deffo sports fabric rather than pretending to be trousers). They wash excellently and are the perfect ankle-bone length on me (I’m 5ft5 - they look quite short on the taller model). You might need to go down a size, tho the waistband has a drawcord.

Honestly, I don't buy loungewear because I think it looks slovenly unless it's very upmarket, and if I am going to spend a lot on clothing, I prefer to be able to style it for occasions beyond MN and watching TV.

I do spend money on good (Sweaty Betty leggings for example) active wear, and that does me fine for getting up and doing chores, including walking dog and Pilates. But I wouldn't wear them to the supermarket, unless I had shorts or a short skirt to pull over the top of them.

Fitness is my small non-verbal brag to the world. 15 years of 2x weekly Pilates and 30 years of daily dog walking keeps me approximately the size I have been all my adult life, apart from pregnancy. While I no longer show any skin (be grateful), I still fit into the same clothes.

allaglow · 27/09/2020 16:41

What's with people getting food and drink all over themselves?
Tuck a tea towel in!

GhostCurry · 27/09/2020 17:27

“ Yes, why so many pale colours in loungewear? I want some comfy trousers to wear while working from home in winter, but I have my lunch in front of the TV and I'd get egg yolk and Diet Coke down myself.”

Because pale loungewear looks luxurious and expensive.

Ginkypig · 27/09/2020 18:16

Well it does for the first approximately 5 of owning it then something that will forever stain it ruins its luxurious look forever! Wine

I personally don't like light colours and always prefer black or darker greys etc which generally then rules out a lot of what in another colour loungewear I'd probably like but I do agree with another poster that I very rarely spill food or liquid on myself but when I do it is bloody always coffee, red wine, chocolate or curry!

AsCoolAsKimDeal · 27/09/2020 19:27

I love my Garys- bought for Pilates but I've lived in them during lockdown. The fleece ones might be my payday treat.

I was looking at the fleece ones but will they not go all crappy looking after a few washes? I am remembering the big trend for fleeces on the end of the 90s/start of the 00s (what were we thinking? They were awful without exception) and the fabric always looked all snuggly and lovely to start with but after a few washes it went all horrible.
goteam · 27/09/2020 20:59

Fat Face and White Stuff always have nice comfy harem style trousers, and I have a fair few pairs. I may have to buy those M&S trousers too. I still have life in some old H&M harems. They always have the same style but different patterns. Very comfy.

GhostCurry · 27/09/2020 20:59

All the better for the companies that want to sell you more of it 🤷🏻‍♀️

AsCoolAsKimDeal · 27/09/2020 22:03

@Jdhshekr I'm assuming SB fleece will be better quality flipping hope so for that price

LoveEatYoga · 27/09/2020 22:19

The Sweaty Betty ones looks nice. "More money than sense" is a bit rude but £80 is probably more than I want to speak though I am tempted to get some SB leggings and thinking I might end up wearing them around the house as well as for exercise...

The M&S ones look nice. They could be the compromise.

I like Gap for casual stuff and have a few plain t shirts and jogging bottoms that I wear from there.

For shoes I often wear my Cloud 9 sheepskin boots (Ugg-like) or more recently my white Ugg trainers (I also have them in tab and they're really nice)

LoveEatYoga · 27/09/2020 22:22

Those M&S ones are mostly out of stock

Ronia · 27/09/2020 22:27

I have a pair of the Scamp and Dude joggers (grey camo) that I wear at weekends, running around with my boys (4 and 7). Also have a pair of Asquith joggers for the same. I dress in jeans and tops during work day but will change into comfies when they go to bed - often pyjama bottoms really. Looking at buying some really comfy trousers for home working over winter. Quite a few shops have nice, soft trousers that look great and relatively smart (ie not leggings, jeans or joggers).like the grey ones of these:
