Do you always share your beauty secrets?

Either on here and/or IRL or do you ever keep them truly secret?
I'm not necessarily asking about non surgical/surgical proceedures, just skincare/supplements/makeup.

I usually share everything but I've come across a few gems lately which are tricky to get hold of so I think I'm keeping shtum for fear of sell out Grin

However, I have a friend who told me that I give out waaay too much info about beauty secrets - she said that beauty was a competition at our age(Hmm. I don't agree with that unsisterly idea at all but wondered if others do?

There’s a perfume I like but have never been able to work out which it is. A lady sitting next to me on the tube was wearing it and when I asked her she made up some guff that she couldn’t remember which it was. Definitely didn’t have a sense of her being put on the spot and struggling to remember it, more an unwillingness to share with a stranger who is never going to see her again, so don’t understand personally.

I always share any great products I find, that I've had success with, or that I think might work for someone else, either here or on other sites/forums or chatting with my sister etc.

Thinking of looking good as being a competition with other women sounds like something an insecure teen might do!

Early 40s here and happy to share anything. Whether my attempts benefit anybody though is another matter.

Don't tell anyone your secrets. That way, it keeps them secret !!!! .. xXx

I know what you mean in a way OP, it's like when celebs saying things like 'oh I just use good moisturiser, oh I woke up looking like this etc'.. when they've clearly had loads done - there is fear of judgement sometimes.

Despite what other posters are claiming here, it definitely is a thing with some people, to try and keep your efforts a bit quiet. Maybe people don't want to admit they make that much effort, as it's seen as vain. But in reality, most of us want to look our best.

Similarly, on the weight loss injection threads, many people aren't telling anyone - because they will probably get judgement, that they are somehow cheating, or taking the easy way out.

I've read women on here talking about there facelift or eyelid surgery and saying that when someone complimented them on how well they looked for their age, they just shrugged their shoulders and said something like 'good genetics'.

I have a good friend who is very against botox/ fillers etc. and would make rather rude comments about women who choose that. I wouldn't tell her if I got anything done, as she would be judgemental about it.

I honestly can't imagine how someone could see "their beauty routine " as competitive.
Or a secret!
It's absolutely batshit to think anyone cares about what you do to look like you do !
Vanity at its worst
