Botox when TTC.... yes or no?

I'm currently ttc. Used to have Botox regularly but stopped as read you probably should avoid. I'm in need of a top up as my forehead has seen better days lol.

I asked the nurse practitioner who does it for me and she said there's no evidence on effects but if I was to do it, do it out with my fertile window.

Has anyone here had Botox while ttc? Should I do it or not?

I really, really wouldn’t. I mean it’s a no-brainer, surely? Even if there’s no evidence (yet) that it can harm an unborn child, why would you take the risk for the sake of a few wrinkles? Sorry to sound harsh but I cannot fathom even contemplating this!

Leakinglikeacolander · 20/09/2020 16:49

I'm also wondering why you'd even be considering it?

Don't health professionals encourage pre natal vitamins and a few months free from the contraceptive pill amongst other things, in order to get your body in the best condition to conceive.
How is injecting botulism into your body even on your to do list.

I had botox before pregnancy, not during and not ttc, but when I was pregnant I remember having the best skin ever, even better than my botoxed face, it was lovely and filled out, beautifully clear and even toned. Apparently it's something to do with having so much more blood and oxygen delivered to every part of your body, skin included. It's very common so wait it out and cross your fingers you get that too.

Nope wouldn’t do it while TTC. I avoided while TTC, pregnancies and BFing.

Agree with PP, my skin (and hair) lovely in pregnancy.

PatsyPet · 20/09/2020 17:05

My practitioner said she would not do it anyway. As no evidence around it being safe.

ReginaaPhalange · 20/09/2020 20:08

Thanks for the replies. I wasn't sure but now I definitely won't be doing it. I also got Botox for my headaches too and they're getting worse cause it's all wearing off, so will refrain :)

As some of you have said, for the sake of a few wrinkles and a healthy pregnancy- that's what matters most to me.

FlowersBearStar best of luck OP!

I don't think a responsible practitioner would do this?

PatsyPet · 21/09/2020 04:46

Agreed. Would set off alarm bells for me

CurbsideProphet · 21/09/2020 18:52

I was having botox for migraine through the NHS. I've had to stop as I'm ttc and apparently it can cause spontaneous miscarriage.

ReginaaPhalange · 21/09/2020 19:01

@CurbsideProphet that's very interesting to know. Definitely won't be getting any! I'll make do with the solphadine!

If you’re young enough to be trying for a baby, you’re way too young for Botox! Shock Step away from the needle.
