Which foundation at 40?

I've come to the sudden realisation that my foundation is doing me no favours.
I have quite prominent pores and it's just sitting in the making them crater like, even with a primer.
I'd like something a bit dewy, don't need really heavy coverage.
Any recommendations please?

Glossier perfecting skin tint is absolutely fabulous on my 42 year old skin. However it gives very little coverage, so not suitable for everyone. I'd say the pores around my nose are quite big too but this stuff just looks glorious. I've had so many compliments since i started to use it - I'm actually blown away. I think a lighter, sheer, dewy texture like this one looks much better on skin for those in this age group and beyond.

Ps if you buy it, please note that you can get 10% off by using a referral code. Mine (and that of a few others) is posted on the promo codes board 👍🏻

I'm reading a book called 'how not to look old' and the recommendation is brilliant primer and less foundation.
I'm still looking for a brilliant primer but Benefit Porefection (I think) is supposed to be brilliant.
I'm currently trying L'Oreal which is not very good. It's a blue coloured liquid but now I've bought it, I will use it up.
I still really like L'Oreal foundations though.

Armani silk foundation has medium coverage and not too matte (so it is a little dewy). I sometimes use the matching cream foundation (in a compact) to touch up areas that need heavier coverage (such as pores).

The beauty pie dupe is about 80pc as good, but you will need to splash out on a membership.

It might be worth considering refreshing your skincare with a new serum, as well as changing up the foundation

Estée Lauder CC cream - so light and glowy. IT Cosmetics cc cream if you want more coverage - you only need a tiny bit. I’m 41 and wouldn’t go back to foundation after using these.

Nars Radiant Longwear is lovely. It lasts all day is lovely and glowy. It can be full coverage or applied lightly for lighter coverage.

Suzyseis · 19/09/2020 19:14

If you don’t want too much coverage you could try NARS tinted Moisturiser

Estee Lauder Futurist foundation is great. I'm a similar age and it gives good coverage and a radiant finish. I use it with Estee Lauder Illuminator primer, takes me from looking like death to a healthy glow Grin

I turn 40 quite soon and have spent so long finding a foundation that gives me good enough coverage that I don't want to cover with powder but also looks natural.

Esl double wear I thought was rubbish but Nars sheer glow is amazing and lasts for ages.

Nars foundation is fantastic (although I'm now allergic to it so can't wear it). Benefit porefect is very good and I've just now bought the big tub

Same problem here - but I also have really oily skin.

Are there any lighter foundations/moisturisers recommended for oily, occasionally spot-prone skin? I'm wary of using primers in case they clog up my pores.

I posted about this on another thread, but this year I have been using the Nivea Sun Face Spf 50 Shine Control, it's not advertised as a primer, it's supposed to be just a facial sunblock that you can wear makeup over, but it's the best mattifying product I have ever used, it's about £8 in boots and it makes my skin look cleaner by taking the shine off, which I really felt always used to highlight my pores a lot more, when there is a shine over them. I've gone bare faced a lot more often since having it.

I'm turning 40 soon and I still have adult acne.

I use dermacol (I think it's called) which gives full coverage.

On my good skin days, I use bare mineral complexion rescue.

Doublewear is shite

I use benefit porefessional primer or elf primer. I prefer porefessional but it doesn't last long for the money.

I'd love something that looks dewy and naturl while giving full coverage. Not sure such a thing exists though!
