As per title.

Thanks a lot!

Hello, my sister is currently having laser hair removal treatment and said it's going well. I have never had it myself but she seems happy with the results

Helgathehairy · 18/09/2020 17:47

A PERMANENT hair removal system doesn't' exist. Laser hair removal is close but even salon versions aren't permanent.

IamAporcupine · 18/09/2020 22:25

Bloody hell, I am just asking for recommendations for one of those laser machines that considerably reduce the amount and speed of hair growth.

Lumea. Tonnes of threads about it on here, it’s great.

joangray38 · 18/09/2020 22:36

I use a combination of the lumea at home and go to a salon. I use the at home version as a top up. The hair growth on legs / side of face has diminished considerably, my arms and moustache have proved the most resilient

FeelinSpendy · 18/09/2020 22:57

I agree with Lumea recommendations. But it depends on your hair and skin colour. I’m very pale and it doesn’t work on my lighter leg hair, but has been great on the underarms and bikini line.

Many thanks, @joangray38, @MolotovMocktail!

I will check the threads

Lumea is great, so long as you have dark hair and light skin.

Waitingforthehammertofallll · 18/09/2020 23:46

@IamAporcupine what do you mean by your post above where you wrote "bloody hell....etc...'"
It was straight after I had offered my suggestion, hope I didn't say anything wrong? I don't know the ins and outs of laser hair treatment, I've never had it, I'm only relaying what my sister has said and she is impressed with the results.

GhostCurry · 19/09/2020 07:10

waiting the OP was quite clearly responding to the poster who said that “a PERMANENT hair removal system doesn’t exist”.

You seem a bit anxious and sometimes self-involvement comes with that. Sorry to sound harsh.

wishywashywoowoo70 · 19/09/2020 08:32

I had IPL at a salon years ago on armpits and bikini. It's definitely permanent. I've never shaved or waxed these areas since.
It's expensive but you only need a few sessions and it's much less faff than doing it yourself

SoManyActivities · 19/09/2020 08:37

Why are people being so weird to each other on this thread?!

Anyway....

I have a Phillips Lumea and it's OK, it works well on my underarm, lip and mostly bikini line. However, it doesn't work that well on my legs, I think it's because, despite the fact my legs are like milk bottles, the hair on my legs isn't as dark as I always thought it was? It doesn't work on my knee hair at all because it's actually quite light. Your best bet is probably to get treatments at a salon but that will be ££££££££££

Lumea is good if you can get a good deal (boots and amazon usually have good offers)
Like the PP i have found it hasn’t worked at some areas as the hair must be lighter than I thought. I use an epilator and the lumea and fairly happy with the results!

anomletteandaglassofwine · 19/09/2020 18:19

I have the Braun equivalent of the lumea, got a really good deal on it from Argos earlier in the summer. It's amazing, after 2 sessions I noticed a difference and after 4 I have no hair on my legs anymore! I which I had bought one years ago.

Elieza · 19/09/2020 18:51

I tried one of these things. But I have blonde/grey hair and pale skin so the contrast between skin and hair wasn’t suitable. I’d bought from qvc U.K. so I returned the item for a full refund. It was worth a try and did say results could be limited for people with my colouring.

Hopefully your colouring is one that will work with laser. I’ve never heard a bad account of it.

IamAporcupine · 19/09/2020 23:37

thanks everyone!
I'll have a look a the Lumea, there seems to be many different models?

I have very fair skin and what I would consider rather dark hair. I will give it a try I think as I cannot stand hairy legs anymore!

@Waitingforthehammertofallll, are you @Idontlikeyoghurt?
I had no issues with your comment! As a PP said, it was the PERMANENT statement that made me Hmm

I spend a lot on waxing under normal circumstances- at least £50 every 6-8 weeks so I’ve invested in a Lumea. There was £100 off the one the I’ve been looking at so I’ve ordered it. Praying it works!

FlyingByTheSeatof · 20/09/2020 11:39

Ipl Philips Lumea it's brilliant. Highly recommend.
