Age spot aagh

Any advice? Dark age spot has appeared over a year ago and I hate it. On my cheek. Any recommendations on serums etc that work? I have read the Clinique one is good but it's £100 so a bit reluctant unless it really works...

I have had one develop this summer on my cheek. I’m 46!

I have one on my forehead that is massive and I hate! I’ve heard there is a one off laser treatment you can get but not sure what it’s called or how much- anyone?

Yeah you can get it lasered off at a beauty salon that does laser. They did one under my eye that looked horrendous (Im 58) and it completely disappeared a few weeks after the laser treatment on the lowest setting. It was great, didn't cost much for one area either.

I think it was £35 or something, this was in east Sussex before I moved.

I got rid of mine with retinol. It took about a year of regular use and it got worse before it got better but it's gone now.

@MoltonSilver which retinol did you use?

Retinol sounds like a good option.

Which retinol would people recommend? Am a bit confused by so many products out there!

I asked at Space NK about this and they recommended a vitamin C cream. Haven’t tried it yet though as I still have another cream in the go and I’m being strict with myself about buying excess products.

I’ve been using a good strong pharmacy retinol (bought in Spain) for over a year and although the age spot is a bit faded it is still very visible even with makeup on.

I’m going to look into Laser treatment- does anyone know what sort of laser they should use for this? Thsnks

I've been using The Ordinary Vitamin C serum (the 23% one). It's only a fiver and I think it's starting to work. It's only been 3 weeks and it's slightly faded. Apparently vitamin C is also good at preventing more pigmentation (and using high SPF obviously).

Superdrug vitamin c serum worked brilliantly on mine.

I’ve had my whole face lasered! It cost quite a bit though and I had a series of 3. Fantastic for sun damage. Basically age spots go dark after then just fall off. Plus helps with fine lines.

Big fan of lasers.
Failing that Retin A with someniacinamide in would work well. Dermatica are good.

Thanks @Delatron - can I ask how much is a fair bit?! Also what type of laser did they use? I live abroad and want to make sure I ask the right questions before trying this. I have a lot of sun damage from my youth

I think it was about £500 a go! It was called the threeforme laser by cynosure.

It had IPL for red veins and a fractional laser for the sun damage.

I just had an age spot and 3 moles removed at local beautician.

Blue, I started with LRP Redermic R. I felt it was working but I switched to prescription strength Retrides (tretinoin) which I bought over the counter while on holiday in Spain.

Apparently how it works is that it increases cell turnover, which brings the dark patch to the surface. It gets more pronounced initially at is comes to the surface but it eventually it fades away.
