Looking for a long rain coat. Any ideas?

I'm looking for waterproof(not resistant) long rain coat/mac. Not particularly thick as would like to wear thick jumpers underneath. But I'd like to wear it on the school run in all weathers. Thanks in advance.

I would highly recommend a Hobbs Saskia Trench coat, they are stylish and can be worn casually with boots and jeans or smartened up with heels. Extremely well made for the price. They are not heavy rain proof but shower proof certainly. Boden have had good raincoats in the past but find their stuff rather mixed in quality now

I've recently bought the Seasalt Coverack coat based on recommendations on here and am very pleased with how flattering the cut is. It's on sale in a number of colours at the moment too. Not yet tested it in a downpour, but description and reviews suggest fully waterproof

I’ve got the Commuter raincoat from Protected Species and after 2 years it still looks like new despite being worn more frequently than any other item of clothing in my wardrobe. They also do a more traditional trench style. I was quite nervous paying so much for a coat but there was a MN discount at the time. They’re lightweight and fluid despite being waterproof and windproof. Cool in warmer weather as they’re breathable but I also wear mine all through the winter as even the chilliest winds are kept out. Smart enough for city wear but tough enough for muddy dog walks as somehow nothing seems to stain it, crumple it or wear it out. I’m still pretty smitten with it as you can tell 😂

Rains raincoat is completely waterproof.

Jellybott · 16/09/2020 07:47

I have a Rains Curve jacket. It's a really good length and has a hood, plus it's a trench coat shape so is more flattering than the average raincoat. It's completely waterproof.

Seasalt are great and properly waterproof.

GrannyRoberts · 17/09/2020 11:26

Seasalt Coverack - properly waterproof and windproof (west coast of Scotland here so it has been tested!)

SabrinaSalem · 17/09/2020 11:39

People with the Seasalt Coverack coat - what's the hood like? I've had a seasalt raincoat before and whilst lovely the hood was annoyingly small.

GrannyRoberts · 17/09/2020 12:24

The Coverack hood is great for me - good coverage and with a drawstring to pull it nice and tight if the wind is howling!

I like Ilse Jacobsen. I've got a light long raincoat from there. They come in lots of good colours and are a nice slim fit and very stylish.

Didriksons Thelma.
