What to do about unhappy hair colour

I’ve had my hair cut and balayage put in. I’ve had the same thing for last few cuts but this was a new hairdresser (as I have moved area)

I don’t think she has done a very good job as I explained that I’m due to have a baby and wanted an easy style that I could just blast dry.

The cut is lovely and I’m happy with it but the colour is not really what I expected.

It looks like a dip dye to me not a balayage
I’m used to a subtle transition from my dark roots to lighter ends with some higher and lower streaks
This is brown to blonde in one go but without an obvious line.
I don’t feel like I can leave my hair natural as it looks odd suddenly turning blonde. Curls look nice as they break up the transition a bit.

The whole point was easy to style hair so that I don’t have to spend any time on it.

I’m not sure if I asked for the wrong thing or if I should go back and ask her to sort it but I’m not sure how she can as she would have to add even more blonde

I’m so sorry you’re not happy with your hair, I’ve been there and it’s not pleasant, it was also when I asked for balayage I had solid blocks of colour throughout my hair, I went back and just asked them to put a dark colour to match my natural hair all over.

You’ve not asked for the wrong thing I get balayage and the idea is it’s low maintenance, it should be hand blended through with different tones so it looks more natural. You’ve had some kind of dip dye:ombré that hasn’t even been blended it’s just like a solid block. If she didn’t know how to do it she should’ve said.

I would go back but don’t have her do your hair, get the senior stylist to do it, any google image would show what balayage is and this definitely isn’t. Don’t let them charge you any money for the correction, if they don’t help you leave them a review.

This definitely needs going back in. Sorry op this doesn't look like balayage/ombre at all.

Yeah what she’s done is an ombré and not a balayage.
If you can afford it, get it redone at a different hairdresser, it’ll save you the stress of having to explain it all, she clearly doesn’t get what you want and might get in a huff.
You can still get a balayage on top of what you have now, the colour variation won’t be as nice as if they did it correctly in the first place because it will have to go on top of the colour blocks now. But it can still look very nice, at least much more blended than what you have now.
