You need professional advice from a hairdresser otherwise you'll be on here next week with a dye disaster.

Ohthatsgreat · 14/09/2020 15:25

Is your hair naturally dark brown or has it go any kind of dye in it?

Sunnydaysstillhere · 14/09/2020 15:31

My dark blonde /brown dye came out with a hair dye stripper. It is naturally blonde. Shoved a blonde on to cover the greys!! The kit will take dark dye off and leave you with your own colour.

I'm sure I already answered this on another thread. If you hair is naturally dark brown then only bleach will make it light enough to put blonde in it

TempestHayes · 14/09/2020 17:09

You lost me at "buy a strippers."

You need to find a salon specialising in colour treatments from dark to light and get advice from them.

Get the bleaching wrong and it'll turn to chewing gum - as you already know. I know the methodology of lightening it to ginger, then again, safely, but not involving dying it light brown in the middle. You'd need to strip out the light brown dye to continue the process, so none of this makes sense.

Speak to a proper stylist at a respectable salon.

Are you sure it will suit your colouring? One of DD's friends has gone blonde from mid brown, and she just looks washed out. The dark hair gave her character and contrast, and now she just looks wishy washy.

My hair is natural brown yes but now has a few red tints in it. I mean to strip your. Hair so goes lighter you can buy them in a box ,I've been blond before and loved it intill I did it again with bleech then went like chewing gum and really short that's why I'm trying to not use bleech.I've already been into a salon this afternoon there told me I need to strip it all out or bleech it to start with.

The colour remover will only remove back to your own hair colour or maybe a little lighter/redder due to peroxide in any box dyes you have used. To get it light enough for blonde will require bleach. There is no getting away from it - going from brown to blonde will need bleach. I dont know how many times I need to write the same thing!

katey2020 · 14/09/2020 19:38

This stuf I mean to strip it out! X

I believe 'Colour remover' is for removing colour you've put in yourself. A dye in brown or pink or something. Not for the natural colour of your hair.

It is possible to bleach your hair at home without ruining it (i've done it myself) but you need to research what you're doing and what you are using and why and how it works. And why and how it goes wrong sometimes.

Best thing is to get a professional to do it. Once you have achieved the lightening you then have to successfully 'tone' your new hair colour to the shade of blonde you want, as you'll know, and all this is pretty stressful at home!

Sorry if you don't want to hear this but the basic rule of colouring is that tint will not lighten tint. You can use a colour remover but it won't take out all the colour. You need to bleach the hair to take it to blonde or accept a light brown. I would recommend going to a salon where they can bleach it safely using a bond protector

IndecentFeminist · 14/09/2020 20:51

Colour remover removes dye, not your natural colour. Only bleach will do that.

Biancadelrioisback · 14/09/2020 20:59

Watch Brad Mondo on YouTube. The majority of his videos are about how to bleach your hair at home safely.
You can't lift a naturally dark hair colour with stripper. Stripper is used to remove dyed colour from hair. The only way to go from dark to light is with bleach. Anything else and you might be luck and have very subtly lighter hair, but definitely won't be blonde

I flipping love Brad Mondo. My guilty secret Facebook distraction

katey2020 · 14/09/2020 21:16

Thanks everyone :)
