Best clarifying shampoo?

Looking for recommendations if possible please. My hair is feeling / looking decidedly manky right now despite regular washing and I'm pretty sure it's down to product buildup.

I'm looking at the Neutrogena anti residue shampoo but thought I'd check here with the wise Mumsnetters to see if there were any tried and tested remedies first.

Thanks Smile

Hairdresser told me to use baby shampoo

I’m impressed with Superdrug’s Argan oil clarifying shampoo. I use lee staffords shampoo brush too & it gets the scalp so clean you feel like the hair dressers shampooed you.

I've heard this, tried my kids shampoo but it wasn't Johnson's baby and didn't really help so might see if I have an ancient bottle of Johnson's in the cupboard Grin

A shampoo brush? I have never heard of this wizardry - off to google!

Ahh, I have something like this to brush my cat - might give it a go as the cat hates it Grin

Either the Bumble & Bumble Sunday shampoo or the Klorane mint one (smells divine, like real mint not the fake stuff).

LastDaysOfSummer · 12/09/2020 14:51

Davines

Coffee4Queen · 12/09/2020 14:54

Bumble & bumble Sunday shampoo, silicone brush (that used to be my cat’s Grin and every fortnight I use apple cider vinegar with the mother on my scalp

FishDontHaveFingers · 12/09/2020 22:28

Thanks all, I will start testing! I've used the Klorane one before - can't believe I forgot about that one, it is gorgeous!

I love lee stafford keep it clean range, hair and scalp feel great afterwards

squishee · 13/09/2020 21:43

Any bog standard shampoo. In a small container, add 1 tbsp baking powder to 1 tbsp shampoo just before shampooing. Stir the mixture up, shampoo on, rinse and repeat. Use your usual conditioner.
The baking powder lather lifts any build-up right off of the hair and leaves it light and swishy.

Some great suggestions here, thanks all! I just want nice hair again that doesn't look all gross after less than 24 hours and has some decent shine to it.

Thank you Smile

Another vote for Boots Expert.

Zoflorabore · 16/09/2020 03:04

My hairdresser recommended one to me last week which she uses herself and said it’s fabulous.

It’s from Home Bargains but am sure other shops will sell it too and it’s called Herbal Essence detox shampoo around £2.99. I must remember to get some Smile

White vinegar is good but really smells lol
And stings if you get it in your eyes!
