Work shoes and plantar fascitis?

Any recommendations for brands to look out for that won't leave me hobbling in agony by the end of the day but still manage to be smart and stylish while avoiding that frumpy orthopedic vibe? Do such shoes exist? Thanks!

Have a look at FitFlop - they have saved my feet!

Seconding FitFlop! I’ve got some smart work shoes (I had to get men’s ones because of my massive feet) and they’ve been very comfortable so far. This time last year I had really painful plantar fasciitis and it’s gradually easing (fingers crossed).

I had this for ages. I found a little pad that went underneath my foot and was held on with a soft strap. Totally cured it. Haven’t had it since.

Sketchers, if you can find anything smart enough in the range. What do you do? All the waitresses at a previous job of mine used to wear the "alice" style of crocs (they don't look like crocs).

It's all about the cushioning imo. I had good clarkes shoes but the cushioned sole turned out to be a grid of hard rubber and it caused me no end of problems. That's why I like sketchers memory foam, or buy Good quality memoey foam insoles.

At the begining of summer on a similar thread someone recommend vionic insoles. Game changer. No longer get up and hobble, no crippling pain, no staggering to the loo in the middle of the night holding on to furniture. About £30 but shop about. I blame sketchers for my pain, everyone's different!

Fitflop! Skechers don’t work for me at all.

Fitflop.

Hotter

Some truly awful styles but a lot of gems too.

Another vote for FitFlop.

I have PF on and off - I also have rheumatoid arthritis which has pretty much destroyed my feet. I was quite young when I was diagnosed ten years ago (mid 30s) and despaired of ever wearing 'nice' shoes again. FFs used to be quite ugly but for the past few years their winter boots especially have been gorgeous. Their Allegra ballet shoes are amazing too - your never guess from looking at them that they have so much support in the sole. I have loads (boots, trainers, platforms, sandals...) and can't recommend them enough - I can actually walk for more than a mile without wanting to saw my feet off! Also they stop my PF in its tracks (along with a week of anti inflammatory painkillers).

Thanks all! Have just bagged a pair of Hotter shoes on eBay for twenty quid - bargain! Will deffo keep an eye out for Fitflop stuff and look into the insoles too :-)
