Hair never ever gets greasy

My hair has been dry for probably the last ten years I’ve tried nearly everything but I’ve noticed that it never ever gets greasy any more but it’s soo dry I’ve tried using oils to put on the ends I’ve tried scalp scrubs but still no oil coming through I also don’t absorb b12 so could this be causing it? Is there anything anyone has used a vitamin or product to help the scalp?

Not does mine , I use it to my advantage and only wash it every 5-6 days !

BillywigSting · 11/09/2020 15:41

I am monumentally jealous.

I'm lucky if I get two days out of mine and my ends are also dry.

When was it last cut?

Henneypenny7 · 11/09/2020 16:15

@gubbbbbddaaaa I try but find it relaxing washing my hair trying to leave it to once a week and @BillywigSting I get it cut every four months as it’s so slow growing Sad I’ve been taking biotin that’s helped a little with condition but still weirdly dry and no grease just gets dryer between washes

We've started taking cod liver oil capsules for our hair and skin.
I bought the OGX biotin shampoo and conditioner which is great on my hair the day I wash it but makes it too greasy and lank for the next day so it might very well suit you, plus it's on special offer at Boots right now along with their other products.

When my hair feels dry at the ends I use Aveda damage remedy hair repair which is a brilliant product.

Henneypenny7 · 11/09/2020 17:14

Thank you @TantricTwist definitely going to give them a try I’ve been using the dark green keratase but might aswell be using washing up liquid for all the good it’s doing Sad

What shampoo and conditioner are you using? Try using ones with no silicones...they coat the hair and stop it absorbing moisture.

TantricTwist · 11/09/2020 17:19

Yes I just use bog standard Alberto Balsam shampoo and conditioner usually but bought the OGX for DD as she's worried about hair thinning around her hairline. I will use it before a night out or something but not daily due to the lankness the next morning.
I've just done my roots and the conditioner is great in the Clairol Nice and Easy box. I've seen it sold separately in the past but that was years ago. It's lovely and conditioning whilst making hair soft.

Maybe try [OGX Argan Oil of Morocco Extra Strength Shampoo this OGX]]

When I read your post I instantly thought 'anaemia' I had the same problem for years with really dry hair. Now my anaemia is sorted my hair is shiny. Your deficiency of B12 is the likely cause.

BinkyBoinky · 11/09/2020 17:50

Mine is the same! Extremely dry and never gets greasy. I think I just have the 'dry hair' type. I used to get split ends really easily (like 2 weeks after a cut) so I thought I just had crap hair, but now I use a leave in conditioner like the Banana Hair Food on the ends most days and it's really helped soften it and the ends aren't rough any more. I don't use heat any more either and do oil masks frequently.

I have dry skin too and use moisturiser every day, so I think of the hair food as moisturiser for the hair. At least it seems to work for me.

Henneypenny7 · 11/09/2020 17:50

@kateluvscats yes i get loading doses from the doctors but only feel the benefit for the first few days Sad

@Henneypenny7 I recommend joining the B12 deficiency/pernicious anaemia groups on Facebook for information on self-injecting if you can't persuade your doctor to give you more frequent injections. There are also some "co-factors" (other vitamins you may be deficient in as they tend to go hand in hand) to bear in mind.
