Please help me find a warm cardie for large norks

Aside from some baggy black thing from monsoon i bought 6 weeks post-birth, I have no winter cardies so help as I am sooo cold! Back at work 3 days this week so i can't really carry on wearing fleeces which is what I wear when out with the kids. I don't wear jumpers, I get too hot and they always look awful on me. The fleeces look awful too but at least I'm warm.
I am large of nork, 36G I think. I liked this one from Kew in red but I don't think it will fit, only goes up to large (16) and I always buy an 18 in tops. Would prefer buttons & zips as opposed to open or tied-style, more practical under a coat. Keener on natural fibres. Any ideas, preferably that I can buy online? Thanks!

nice cardis in Gap atm

I bought a black one in medium and I have f cups ,mine is cotton as I find wool stifling ,but they had nice woolen ones aswell.

oops sorry just saw that you wanted online

ShinyHappyPurpleSeveredHeads · 08/10/2007 09:29

Joes Browns have some lovely cardies atm. Look as if they would accomodate sizeable norkage

Marks & Spencers have a few lovely cardis at the moment;

from Per Una in XL

Per Una, size 18

Ooh,thanks! I was going to gap for kid's clothes this week anyway (just couldn't be bothered to traipse around for myself!) so will have a look. I did have a look at M&S but sadly did not like any of them but thanks for the links nonetheless. Hadn't come across Joe Brown's before, I'll have a look!
any tips on what kind of styles to avoid/look for esp when buying online? I never seem to get it right & I really can't bear another winter of freezing simply cos I don't have any cardies. I had one nice one last year but I shrunk it
anyone else?

scary those ones are monstours

fishie · 09/10/2007 10:18

what are you wearing with this hypothetical cardie?

fine knit v neck jumper is highly flattering. gap do have nice linen knits.

fishie · 09/10/2007 10:22

here

Really, thin v-neck? Anything like that I think I'd look like a buxom bar wench. I was thinking more of the disguise and distract variety.
Well, jumpers also look awful on me so I'm a bit lost as to what else to try if I can't find cardies to suit the norkage. I prefer them cos I can leave them undone if I'm too hot.
I have a few patterned 3/4 length and long sleeved tops from monsoon/principles, well 3 I think. Not any of them are great and some don't fit, so I don't actually have any tops either. I'm in the market for a complete winter top overhaul quite frankly. I wouldn't wear a sleeveless top under a cardie, don't mind short sleeved as long as the cardie's warm & I have loads of lovely scarves. I'm very big on accessorising, just nothing to accessorise.

cardies disastrous done up. a big line with eyecatching buttons up your front not wise.

how could jumper be worse? you could have a vest underneath in another colour.

ScaryScaryNight · 10/10/2007 13:47

oh Coddie! I like them! It would be my third or fourth choice after BRORA!

accessorizewithbabysick · 10/10/2007 21:40

fishie, hmm see your point, but would not wear jumper with vest underneath in case I had to take the jumper off due to getting hot (am I the only one who gets hot?). However, I haven't actually tried on a jumper for some years now so perhaps ought to give one a try.
